You could not have picked a better time to some to Chicago. Feels more like early fall these last couple days.
Was just in Chicago for the week visiting family and the weather was incredible. Cool in the evenings and high 70’s/low 80’s with low humidity- if it were like that every day, people wouldn’t complain about the weather!

Live in Chicago (burbs) and the last week has been very unseasonably pleasant. This week so far too. I always tell people the best weather in Chicago is last 2 weeks of Sept and first 2 weeks of October. But this last week has been ideal. Enjoy your time here @gbesq. If you make it to the Museum of Science and Industry they have the Speedmaster Lovell wore on Apollo 8.

How is the quality and variety of the meals? Included in the price?
Certainly not haute cuisine, but much better than airline food, fine for a couple of days, and included in the fare. Dinner includes one alcoholic beverage. We paid $694 for each roomette, including taxes and fees. When you consider that the price includes a private cabin for three days and two nights and meals, it’s a pretty reasonable price to travel 2/3 of the way across the U.S.

Thank you, Sir. I'm thinking of taking a similar trip with my wife.

Fantastic photos and a great way to see any country.

I Love taking the train. I have travelled all across Europe, a few cities in Japan and from Beijing, across Mongolia to St.Petersburg. I would like to take the train across Canada and India. Africa would be nice, but the infrastructure is not great.

I did go to the railway museum in Zimbabwe and got to walk around the private carriage that Cecil Rhodes used when travelling around southern Africa.

Enjoy your travels.

We booked two roomettes directly across from each other so that we had the views covered on both sides of the train. Technically, each roomette will sleep two, but it would be pretty cramped. It’s absolutely fine for one person.

That's a nice variation on Port Out, Starboard Home accomodations on a P&O!
