Doing some research on a watch and looking at completed listings trying to find movement pics, every time I clicked on a completed listing this message came up:

The listingPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network you’re looking for is no longer available. Check out this similar item we found for you.

Is this happening with anyone else?

Very annoying! Seems to do this even if the listing has been relisted, which just plain doesn’t make sense!

I tried on ebay Canada and America and with both sites the completed listing is replaced with a suggested current listing.

    I've noticed that too.

I’ve heard it may not do this when viewing the mobile site... not sure though, and entirely annoying either way.

Looking up sold items doesn't make much sense to the boffins and bean counters at eBay ;)

Yes, this another ignorant "improvement" implemented by eBay. My favorite – i.e. the worst – was when they scrapped the simple, and very useful tool of allowing sellers to check a "pre-1970" box. It was far more valuable than more specific dating, as most sellers don't know the actual date of production.

    Morons.

Seems that way... which is CRAZY since so many use that as a research method to then set pricing on their own item. IE making eBay more money! Silly.

Is there a way to view “SOLD” or “Completed” listings on the eBay app?

Yes, check the filters, and enable the sliders for „sold and completed listings“ it still works for me. When I try to copy the link directly from the app via the „share this listing“ option ( the three vertical dots in the upper right corner, for iOS users) and post the link on FB or send it on WhatsApp it redirects to a completely different listing. ... absolutely stupid.

You probably realize this, but if you click on "listing" in that sentence, it will take you to the previous listing. It takes an extra click, but it's still available. Just wanted to make sure people understood that the previous listings are not completely gone.

That is not necessarily true. I have no idea how or why they are channeled differently, but it some cases that option is not available.

My theory is eBay does NOT want you to use previous auction results as a way to gauge how much to bid on a current item. They probably believe this will lead to higher realized prices on current listings.

ps - I get to say "I TOLD YOU SO!" again about a former prediction.

Thanks for that Dan S. I had to click it a few times before the completed listing came up, but it came up.

Agree, and their search algorithm went down the crapper some years ago when they removed the wild card capability. If you were looking for a Mark II you could search for "omega m*" and find everything. Now you have to do something like "omega (markii, mark II, mkII, mk ii, mark 2, mk2, .......). And you'll still miss someone's "mrkii" listing.

Er... why do I get the idea from this that there's a pattern in your behaviour? :)
