I wonder what it means when I found out about this lawsuit by watching "Chelsea Lately".

Frankly, after purchase of one vintage Rolex where an unscrupulous seller switched the caseback on me (after showing the correct one on eBay, no less), I'm staying away from Rolex. Luckily, I was able to replace the offending part without a huge problem.

The folks on the Vintage Rolex Forum play very rough.

Maron's lawyer should probably keep his yap shut: "Robert Maron has a more than 30 year reputation as an internationally renowned watch dealer." So, he should have, and therefore probably DID know the authenticity of these watches.

I have little sympathy for Mayer, but if Maron were smart, he would have just refunded the relatively paltry sum and kept his reputation in tact.

Probably most wealthy business-people have pride and elect to fight-back, win or lose. For one instance they forgot, pride goes before a fall.

Thank you.

I know nothing of Breitling. Are you or anyone else reading this post able to tell me exactly what's "wrong" with this particular Breitling? *sigh*, always learning...

Hi everyone,
just managed to join as I was pointed to this thread that is linked to a thread I made on another board
http://breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=52903

I know little about Omega and most other brands but I do know a thing or 2 about Breitling

and people ask why this is a fake , and details

so here we go

1) Why is this Maron piece fake ?

-: No reference number (all Breitling watches have a 3 , or sometimes 4 digit reference number)
-: Bogus serial number (see serial number list viewtopic.php?f=11&t=31437 )
-: Gold master mark from 'Louis Wursten Fils' (1934 - 1941) , never used by Breitling and not a known Breitling contracter
-: Breitling script on the dial incorrect
-: looks nothing like a genuine known breitling model

I have added this info to the original thread as well for future reference

Lawsuit, rock stars, celebrity, big-money collecting, alleged fraud... what's next?

One possible future element.... will another celeb jump into the fray with some crazy wild-assed twist - perhaps claiming a rock star stole his vintage Patek? (Edit: poetry doesn't count)

Film at eleven. 😉

funny :

"Say what you will about Charlie Sheen, he has become a social media superstar. I recently had a chance to meet Charlie, and to run a few questions by Bob Maron, the guy who runs the@CharlieSheen Twitter account."

So if I understand correctly its Mr Maron behind Sheen's twitter account ?

That's very interesting...a bit more control than I assign to the watch dealers I know.

I would guesstimate 9 out of 10 (in)famous people have flacks run their social media content. I witness it all the time.

I believe Maron's undergrad degree is in some form of communications or media and I know he's a producer for Sheen's TV show so I guess it makes sense in that context.

Charlie Sheen's twitter feed reads like it's written by a young, seriously jaded stripper from Scores or the Penthouse club hahaha.

Just be careful what you say-
There were lawsuits at VRF about remarks in
the forum said about a member there. He ended
up in jail. But there were lots of lawyer fees involved
before it was over.

I'm surprised Rolex the enterprise allows TRF to exist. Perhaps there's some sort of side letter thing going on?

I consider being banned from TRF as one of the great achievements of my life. just for some context: I played in the Rose Bowl and have literally saved the lives of multiple persons.

a quick review of some the original threads questioning the veracity of Mr. Maron's claims and the authenticity of many of his "For Sale" items demonstrates that many members who otherwise appeared to be in good standing had their asses BANNED right quick. Active members with 5,000 to 10,000+ posts.

Methinks there was lots of "SLAPPing" going on all over the place ugh hahaha lulzzzzz.

For shame. This Maron guy seems like a cool guy In the spirit of Damon Runyon (or whomever).

buying used watches is hard work and I despise hard work.

I lost interest when Orchi, my greatest Rolex friend, was banned there.
He challenged Marcello and AakViper too many times
He challenged people's thinking too much.
He knew more than anyone over there, save 2 or 3 guys.

And that's why we find a nice home around the OF. Reasonable debates can be had by two consenting individuals (I'm looking at you, pitpro, in all respect).
