How about Gross Retail Price Excluding Warranty?
Maybe to differentiate between a layaway payment.

'La watch' could mean Ladies watch, although it seems odd to call out only that attribute.

Consider the possibility that 'Lw 3671' is actually 'La 3671'. Our sales clerk wrote with a flourish and my suspicion is that what appears to be a 'w' is an open topped 'a'. Not that this helps decipher it in anyway.

It must be something that would be meaningful to the customer or whoever got this receipt. Has Gross Retail Price Excluding Warranty ever been a term with wide currency in the US? I don’t know whether gross retail price or additional-cost warranties for watches were ever a thing. I mean, I’m not saying it’s unlikely, just that neither concept sounds familiar at all to me as an American.

I suspect GRPEW was meant to signify something about the item itself, given the position it appears on the receipt. Sales tax is not labeled in any way, which suggests that the label doesn’t apply to the numbers.

It looks a lot more like the other Ws in the document and less like the a in watch. “Ladies’ watch” is my vote.

What if G in GRPEW is gold? What might follow from that?
Does gold r— p— e— watch bring anything to mind?

In this price bracket the only gold option would be plated, as my 196.0191 is.

I think the “GRPEW” is a stock number that is meaningless to anyone not affiliated with that store.

The “LW3671” seems to be an Omega reference number. The pattern fits. See examples below:

The $11 is Florida sales tax.

I think that is as close as we are going to get.

Here is a section from a roughly 1980 catalogue. In 1982 I bought a MD196.0191 (A in the illustration). But as I bought it in Boston MA not the UK I cannot directly translate the price into USD. Memory (mine is very fallible...) says I paid $320 or thereabouts. OK these are men's watches, quartz which may (or may not) be more expensive than women's or automatics, but this is on the right football field.

That DeVille in the centre looks like gold version of this one of mine:

I love how the light plays of the facets of the bracelet

The case for lay away is getting very weak as i found a pic of a box set on ebay with a ticket of a lay away, so it needed some more paper work apparently then just a mention on the invoice that i have. So i am happy with your explanation of the reference number. Thanks all !

Nice time capsule if anyone is interested ; ORIGINAL VINTAGE OMEGA WRIST WATCH DISPLAY BOX WITH BOOKLET & TAGS | eBay
