I want to buy my first solid gold watch. Probably over the next year or so No particular reason for doing so but I have already been excited about having one as a special wear I plan to buy second hand or as discounted as possible, so as not to loose too much money I really like yellow gold, and have been drawn to the 38mm gold with gold strap Constellation "day date" but ultimately I think I am going to skip the bright yellow gold. Its just a bit too flashy for me and I might be self-conscious wearing it A half-way house could be the more subtle special edition constellation with the brown leather strap (123.53.38.21.02.001) So I am thinking more of rose gold and white gold. I don't believe Omega does a white gold watch (please tell me if they do) but the rose gold ones I am looking at are the gorgeous seamaster 300 (233.60.41.21.01.001 metal strap or brown leather strap) or the stunning planet ocean 39.5mm with brown face and brown leather strap (215.63.40.20.13.001) What do you guys think ? Please feel free to post pictures of your Omega gold watch ?
In the course of following the little spat on the other thread I spotted this which might be right up your street. The de Ville Tresor is available in white, rose or yellow gold this one being the rose version Ref: 432.53.40.21.02.002 My preference though is for vintage, here’s my Seamaster in 18k solid gold
Thanks It’s nice if a bit traditional There are a few nice Longines and Baume & Mercier gold watches which look very similar and are also nice I like your vintage one more ....
I’d absolutely go vintage if you like the looks. They’re are many great options around 35-36mm, and whilst 38mm is a bit more difficult they are still out there. The big benefit wold be that they’re likely to retain their value much better. Love my UG
A beauty! Is this the new refurbished series from Omega ? A bit pricey but very desirable! Actually some of the prices are not too bad, this is a lovely chronograph for £11k https://www.omegawatches.com/watch-omega-specialities-museum-51653395002001
Hello Colonel, No it's not a new serie. It was released a couple of years ago I believe. They used the case of the watch above (1949 watches) and made a dial that fit 188 watches in rose gold,188 in yellow gold and 188 in white gold. The white gold case is very peculiar. The rose and yellow gold cases are fantastic. More pics on : https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo4xSF2HszA/?taken-by=sparkleandsparks
I realise that this is in the Modern Omega forum but when it comes to gold dress watches, I don't think you can beat vintage for looks or for value. There was a lovely 1948 Vacheron in 18ct yellow gold that sold on ebay recently for around £2000. Everything about it was right. Of course, it was a 34mm case. For modern looks and a larger size, the while gold JLC master moonphase (I'm sure that's not the correct name) is absolutely fantastic. They have brilliant fit and finish. A watch that retailed when new at £30,000 and you can get them now for £10,000 or less. It'll be interesting to see where they go in future.
