I'm in the same boat. Been looking for the same thing for a few months as a retirement gift.

 

I have a superb IWC cal 89, 18k yellow gold, but not quite 36mm...

 

I have that one but not perfect. Un perfect restored dial and wrong hands. 18k.

 

So wrong dial, wrong hands, wrong crown and what's with the case, it looks wrong as well, or at least over polished and with a very flat bezel. Do you have pictures of the inside case back?

As I said the dial, is refinished and the hands are not original. As for the case, I checked it with the acid test, 18k gold. I think this is a french constellation. it's true that the bezel is flat. I can explain that. there's the french eagle head stamped on every part of the case.
If someone is a 100% sure it's a fake please tell me. I shall never show it again here.

 

If you'd have said that it was a French cased Constellation in the first place it might have avoided any confusion about it being a legit case or not.
