Shamelessly soliciting advice from the wise members of this forum...

I’ve seen this for sale online. I’d been looking for a DJ anyway and am considering opening negotiations on this one.

Can anyone find ‘issues’ with it that I haven’t spotted? Unfortunately, there’s no movement pictures.

Nowhere do they mention that it’s a Sigma, but I think you can just make out the mark...

Roughly what would a reasonable target figure (£) be? Currently it’s listed at just under £3k, which seems steep, considering they aren’t a brick & mortar jewellers, just an online presence.

    Any advice greatfully received

I assume the lume dots are all round....
The bezel appears heavily polished, but I am not too familiar with the engine turned bezels.
Does the date wheel feature open 6 and 9s?
A movement photo is absolutely necessary IMHO, unless you buy from Hodinkee :D
    Good luck.

Based on the link style of the Jubilee bracelet (assuming it is original to the watch), and the acrylic crystal, I think that watch would be 30 years old, or older. The engine turned steel bezel shows only light wear, considering the age of the watch. Could be okay, but buying a used watch is sort of like buying a used car. You should only expect to pay for un-used mileage. We need to see the movement.

Thanks guys. Yes, it’s mid 70s. Open 6s and 9s.
I contacted the seller and he was happy to provide movement pictures. 5381C42B-3C43-4486-95D7-6D0F7F277C9D.png 03353F24-0602-4A79-B1F6-B89D6F3FD676.png 41249CEB-F04D-45BE-B87E-26EC2B7D96C8.png

Looks like a nice DJ, and the sigma dial is a plus too. The movement shots look good and all the major pieces seem to fit together well. Shoot for a price closer to £2000 as these are literally everywhere.

I assume you would be buying with US dollars? The exchange rate seems to be about 1.17 US dollars to the pound. At just under £3,000 converted to US $, that seems a tad on the high side. The watch looks good, but with that old style Jubilee bracelet, I think I would negotiate with the seller, if I were you. If you are not buying with US dollars, I think you would need to take a real close look at the deal.

3000 BGP is a bit high. You might want o negotiate it a bit down, if possible. Watch looks good though.

I agree. £3,000 is definitely high. Anywhere near £2,000 is reasonable. Good luck!

At the risk of annoying the seller, I'd like to see a shot of the caseback (back of the lugs) without the bracelet. I'd also like some shots of the bracelet laid flat and curved to it's maximum, to get a feel for the stretch.

Price is high, but you will have to pay a premium if you're going through a dealer. I personally love the the 1603 and think it's the coolest DJ out there – but there are a lot to choose from out there! So if you can't get a good price, walk with confidence.

+1. There definitely are a lot out there. If you can't negotiate for a good price, be patient. You'll come across an even better one with a better price. ;)

I’d MUCH rather NOT go through a dealer, but in the past I’ve waited to find the ‘right’ x, y or z watch and seen myself priced out. These days I tend to think, with the first of any particular watch - just get one - upgrade it later if you find better.

IMO Sigma 1603 are the coolest DJs. Currently there seems to be no price premium for Sigma, which surprises me.

The seller is proving resistant to providing a couple of additional images I asked for. That might lose him a sale.
