To compare and contrast the Grey and Blue Soleil dials. I believe the blue was fitted at service, while the Grey dials were from new. All conjecture, and there is another very good thread on these dials on the forum. The greys do not seem to age well. This one is not bad.
Are the grey dials confirmed as such and not just a faded black dial? Seems odd that Omega would issue a speedy with a grey dial, which isn't so different from standard black?
The grey looks like matte enamel, while the blue looks like anodized radial brushed. Tough choice - grey for vintage patina, and blue for vintage bling.
blue soleil dials are service dials for sure, buddy purchased one years ago in the container from omega from a watchmaker..
The blue dials are absolutely stunning. Have seen a few pics posted from @Spacefruit and was wondering if any other forum members also had a blue dial in their possession? A mesmerising dial for sure!
Not shorter, but on this particular type, all the indices including hour, minute and 1/5th second are printed further away from centre and closer to the dial's edge.
The minute hand's tip is farther from the 1/5 second track than on normal dial. Appearance of proximity to the edge depends on the width of the crystal tension ring. Can you post pictures of your watch?
Hard to say for sure as the angle you take the photo is going to affect where the hands line up with the seconds track. Still think those indices on the grey dial are shorter
It's quite clear that your minute hand is closer to the 1/5 track than Spacefruit's. Your tension ring is also wide than his, similar to the silver one on his sunburst dial. You can look in the blue dial thread by Master of Speed for more examples.
One thing to agree on is that they're remarkably pretty, especially the blue which is making me miss my Gemini 4
