Hello all, I’ve picked up several pieces recently and need to free up some space and some funds. To that end, I’m offering up an IWC cal 83 for your consideration. Referred to by some as a “poor-man’s Patek”, the cal 83 was produced by IWC in the 30’s and 40’s and closely resembles the layout of IWC’s pocket watch calibers from the same era. As you can see from the photos, the movement is finished beautifully. This particular example incorporates one of the major alterations made to the movement during its production run, the addition of Incabloc shock protection, and dates to roughly 1943 based on the serial number. The dial and movement are marked INCA, to denote the incorporation of Incabloc, and the dial is also double signed by the jeweler Kofmehl of Zürich. This particular watch also has its original crown, marked with the IWC fish logo. The watch is 32mm and located in the US. I have had this piece for a couple of years, but never got around to having it serviced. I would recommend a service if you plan on wearing regularly as I do not know the service history, but the watch is currently running. I’m asking $650 obro (plus 3% if using PayPal) shipped in the CONUS. Will also accept Venmo. Returns only if the piece is notably different than this description. I do not sell pieces often, but can provide references. Thanks for your consideration and OF for the space! Andrew
Just wanted to say, despite the small size with the stark (and beautiful) dial layout, I bet it would present magnificently on a Bund style strap even for larger wrists. GLWS!
Give you an idea of size on my ~7 inch wrist. The marks between 4 and 5 are on the crystal, not the dial.
