Hello a little back story on the watch before i get into details; purchased some land with abandoned house, while cleaning out the house i found tons of foreign coins, and this watch! Looked like the previous owner was a collector! He even had a porsche 944 rotting in the backyard which is sad! And then there is the speed master which still slightly works! It winds and the hands will work for a minute or two before stopping! Upper and lower push buttons dont work (probably stuffed with corrosion) I had the back cover removed to check serial number and condition of the internals! Not sure what the watch would be valued at since it will need some restoration (bezel missing, hands have rust, glass faded and scratched, scratches all over the watch)! Let me know what you guys think! Should i restore the watch and how much would it cost me? Or should i sell as is and how much would i get for it?

What you have based on the serial number is a Speedmaster 145.022-74, it has a flat dial, no step, fitted with the correct 1171/633 bracelet.
The watch is most likely manufactured in late 1975 early 1976. Yes, it's missing the bezel, but considering it was not a DON but rather a dot close to 70 bezel, finding the correct bezel will not be as expensive as a dot over 90. It's impossible to know how much the repair will cost as without examination by a watchmaker no one can tell what parts will need to be replaced due to rust and corrosion and age.

If you like the watch, then get an estimate. I don't find the dial attractive, but it might be the photo. To help you decide, if you check the price chart on speedmaster101, you will find that this particular watch in poor condition, essentially tells the correct time two times a day, is worth about $2900 USD and that's just the head not including the bracelet. Now, I can't imagine the repair costing more then 2500.00 and the bezel, not sure on price, but most likely less than 500 USD. If you decide to sell as is, don’t expect to get 2900 IMO. Your call...

"Poor – These watches are unattractive, have damaged parts, and have very little going for them other than they can tell the time correctly twice per day. The bezel is damaged, the dial is damaged, the case has lost definition or heavily scored. The movement might be corroded, or missing some minor parts. Often these can be valued more accurately by valuing the parts separately." (Speedmaster101)
Poor Fair Good. Very Good Excellent
145022-74 No Step Dial 2,900 3,200 3,600 4,600 7,200. Price is for head only not bracelet

I would not consider it as a good deal to repair it and refresh and then resale. If you find it nice and want to keep it you can ask for a watchmaker’s estimate. It would be nice to see a dial as its hard to say is it attractive or not behind a faded crystal. But still those 145.022 are one of the most affordable speedmasters and you can easily find very attractive ones. So one can choose if looking for one. Bezel is not a problem. DNN bezel is not expensive. But you can not get back definition of the watch. I would say even this 3000 could be hard to get quickly for that watch.

If you’re going to sell, do so in its current state.

It will restore nicely but only worth the effort if you’re going to keep and wear it.

I agree with David. Sell it as it and don’t take any risk with a restauration that can go wrong.
3k seems a bit high to me. It has a lot of issues.
But it can be a nice watch for a MOD or a relume!

Selling as is will net you more than paying to service then selling.

Don’t even clean it - plonk it on eBay at .99 auction and watch all is crazies over bid.

I’m not kidding. A watch like this looks complete original and we love that. Ironically if I buy it I do my own style of resto, but obviously I think I do it better than anyone else 😀 but that is what we all think.
