https://www.fratellowatches.com/new-king-seiko-collection/#gref That google news feed for me is usually in this order, watches, Beatles, finance stuff, on occasion actual important news issues but mostly stuff I look at doing searches. Saw this reissue of the King Seiko which I’m getting good vibes from just wondering about the movement used for the price range but with all the tinkering going on with vintage seiko I do kinda like them doing this, of course fakes of these will be flying around. I’ll enclose a picture of the ones seiko sent me to review on my blog, Walrus and watches please don’t check my site out it’s very popular and keeps crashing I don’t need any more fans/followers/groupies
The good: - Love the looks - Nice size - Case and bracelet finish looks nice - Finally a nice looking bracelet from Seiko - Nice emblem on the caseback The bad: - Obviously the movement is a bit industrial for the price range. It's not really any different from the one in my Seiko 5 (without the date components) - At the very least they could have adjusted the movement to closer tolerance - I really dislike the type of laser engraving Seiko does on the caseback of all of their watches. It looks especially cheap when they do it on their more high-end products (even on their Grand Seiko's) - Price
Kinda….I like the dark dial versions. Not crazy about those thick lugs and the oversized King Seiko fonts.
I really like them. https://www.seikoboutique.co.uk/product-category/king-seiko/?mc_cid=9da174e80e&mc_eid=a8888b25ad £1,470 in UK. As mentioned earlier it's expensive for a 6R31 equipped watch.
Love the front view but rrp is a big problem. You can often find 30% off but that’s still 4 figures in the UK. £500-850 is the space they should be.
Ya glad you said that as I thought I was being cheap. Price seems steep for the movement but damn that reddish hue/tint/color whatever you choose looks lovely and is something I want (certainly not need) but doesn’t seem to make sense I mean can’t we still getting speedy autos in that price range? Used of course. Not comparing I just think if you are spending that much there maybe better options but if you like it and it puts a smile on your face it’s probably worth it. That’s kinda how I judge the price of things but it’s harder to do with inflated prices everywhere
My '66 KSK says 'Hi! What happened to your gold medallion? You really want people to know you're an Automatic, huh?'
Not a Seiko fan but those look quite attractive, especially the red dial really pops. Love the size: 37mm diameter, 42.5mm lug to lug. Maybe the age of the 'hockey puck watch' is finally coming to an end.
Configurator is online at https://www.seikowatches.com/global-en/products/kingseiko/special/simulator/
font size spoils the watch for me. would better if they just use "KS" in place of "King Seiko" or just "King" below the applied logo. Case and bracelet are awesome though
Agree with you on the font size. The "King Seiko" text is period correct, but looks much larger than on the original. Looks off to me. Could that be intentional, to prevent the use of this dial on vintage pieces?
The dial feet are already different due to the different movements, right? It might have just been changed to be more legible, as is the case with a lot of the upscaling on modern dials these days.
Overall *(in pictures) a little angular for me. The square lugs, the bracelet links. Too much. I do like the concept, the size and the dial choices. Good alternative to those that are looking for an option to the color OP I haven't seen it in person som the balance may be softer on the wrist.
It is intentional for sure but likely for other reasons. The design team has to value add to a very basic dial design while keeping it clean like the original. If you look at their advert, it says "striking" and "enhanced" and from the dial perspective, i believe it translates to a larger font "King Seiko" and the slightly odd "Automatic" text.
