2019 has been a banner year, and I am starting to feel gilty...literally!

I got a text message a couple of months ago from a friend's wife who works in the estate liquidation business. Her boss had an old GMT that he may want to sell, and she sent me some crappy pics. I let her know that I'd be interested and to pass on my info.

Fast forward to this Monday and I get a text from a number I don't recognize with a pic of a GMT...a few texts later and a phone call and we had a deal.

It arrived today.

Here is an IG video...

It was owned by a Col in the Army who served for 30 years. He bought it at the end of his tour in 1967 a company commander for 1st Calvary Division (Airmobile) where he earned a Combat Infantryman Badge, Silver Star, 3 Bronze Stars and 2 Air Medals. He was literally Lt Col Kilgore from Apocalypse Now!

It comes with the COSC papers, Warranty booklet, GMT booklet, 3 RSC service papers, and box. It came with a perfect red back fat font insert and I swapped out with my fuchsia.

The luck continues...2019 has been a banner year.

My dad says that I have a golden horseshoe up my ass...I am not going to lie, the luck has been strong to quite strong. I like to attribute it to watch karma...that's the only thing that makes sense.

Honestly, this isn’t luck. This is someone who is active in a hobby and lets everyone they know that they are an interested buyer. It was the same for me with hi-if when I was actively collecting- McIntosh, Marantz and Thorens we’re dropping out of the sky weekly! But it’s because I built a network of people who knew people who knew people....

Congrats on building a great network and having it pay off.

Of course. You don’t come across a 1968 McIntosh MC2105 in the factory box with all paperwork like it was new every day- but I knew people who were cleaning out a hoarders house and knew I had cash and bought high end audio. If you don’t get yourself out there, the goodies don’t come your way.

You are 100% right...and you have to be active in buying and selling, never stopping the game.

Old saying, I'd rather be lucky than good 😀 But you have to have knowledge to choose and that collection shows that.
Congrats,
