    Hi all,

So I just bought this from an auction room and I really like it but I don't know much about it, could anyone tell me the rough year and model and if you think anything has been changed. I have noticed that one of the screws is missing (you can see it in the second picture) Is it easy to pick these up?

    Thanks
    Oli

The case is 9 karat (.375), so it would seem the watch was for Great Britain. Movement looks good. You are missing a case screw, but ALSO a case clamp. The existing case screw is holding a case clamp which is visible in the picture. The screw and clamp shouldn't be difficult to replace. It all depends on who you call on to attend to the replacement. Movement looks good. The dial image seems to indicate water damage, or evidence of an unsuccessful attempt to clean the dial. Vintage? Mid 1960s I'd guess.

Thanks for that info :) what does the (.375) mean? how does that equal 9 karat?

Do you know what model I should use when trying to find a clamp and screw?

I quite like the dial how it looks would other people be put off? I'm trying to figure out which to keep I got an omega and this at the same time and can y really only keep one

    Thanks again

You're using right #...the movement serial # will approximately date the watch. Don't know why it didn't work for you, did for me.

Sorry, it's working now, thanks for the link.

I'm guessing from the date I can now narrow down the exact model and what it should look like.

It's hard to tell anything from the small picture of dial above...posting a clear closer dial shot would be very helpful in determining origionality of dial, ect. Looks like dial suffered from some type of moisture issue but movement looks fine, maybe serviced right after issue?

Sometimes Longines watches didn't have specific model name, just a Longines like my 18K pink gold cal. 30L...

Thank you for the compliment, and much better picture...from this shot it looks like someone might have tried to clean the dial at some point causing this damage. Based on the length of the hands and the quality of the printing of the minute track I want to say redial. But the Longines, what's left of it, looks fairly good and along with the "Swiss Made" being in the right place I'm just not sure. Anyhow as long as you like it that's all that matters!

You mentioned in a post above that you have an Omega as well and can only keep one watch...a picture of the Omega would help if you are looking for opinions from others to help in your decision.:) (Plus people on this forum just love pictures;))

I'm a sucker for the hand wound cal. 26x Omegas and love those Dennison cases. They are numbered on the case back, main part of case and I believe on the back of the bezel as well. So you know the case belongs together. Been looking for a cal. 268 like this for some time...

So based on both of your watches I'd keep the Omega because it's in better condition and also I am biased!:)

Yeah, I'm leaning towards the omega. I'm keeping my eyes and ears open to get a black dialed one in rose gold, I guess it's only a wrist filler for now ;)

I love the dial on your watch it looks cool

The Omega above is not mine (I wish). Although I have been looking for one, these not so easy to find in nice condition.

I'd say keep the Omega if you can only keep one. (And my bias usually favors Longines but in this instance the Omega is better because of the better condition of the dial).

I vote Omega also based on condition. I love Longines watches, but, to me, that damage on the Longines dial is just not that pleasing to the eye. The pinkish patina on the Omega is quite lovely, however!
