I've purchased an angelus 210 with a double chrono pusher at a relatively decent price of £1100(I hope) and I was really excited to receive it.

But when I opened it up, I was pretty disappointed. IMG_7453.JPG IMG_7451.JPG
(Censored the website as I'm not out to shame or anything)

As you can see, the colour of the lume is so different. The gilt dial is still pretty nice, a darker orange gold compared to the photo on the website.

Now I'm contemplating if I want to return it. Movement is clean. Bottom chronograph button works but doesn't feel like there is much resistance to it compared to the top button. Chronograph hand resets to slight before 12 but I can live with that.

Case is in a good condition and bevels are quite sharp still. IMG_7453.JPG

Based on the condition of the watch, would you return or keep it?

I'm not photoshop expert but it looks like they might have raised the brightness and increased the contrast on the dial shot to make the dial look better.

Dial is the biggest attractor/detractor to any watch. If you're disappointed in the dial, return it.

The dealer you bought it from has a very characteristic style of photographs so I know who it is. I've been warned before about the variable quality of the vintage watches, and how some of them are undisclosed frankens. I'd return it.

I would again suggest a Google image search ("Angelus cal 210"). I think you will find it reassuring... for example:

Hmm. The difference in the thickness of the "30" and the fact that it's touching each other, makes me wonder if it's a redial. If you scrutinise my photo closely, you'll notice what I mean.

I did google both 210 and 215. In the photo you shared, the font of the numbers in the subdial is very uniform and equal. More "thin".

After it was pointed out by texomega that it's a redial, I scrutinised the photo and I felt that these discrepancies pointed towards a redial.

Or am I being too harsh?

I have scrutinized your dial carefully. I did notice that the ink is a shade - a shade - thick on your dial... the "55" caught my eye at first... so you and I have made basically the same observations. Our conclusions are different. Having looked at a few of these older Angelus dials, I have decided not to hold them to Vacheron standards of uniformity. My conclusion is that it is highly unlikely that your dial is a redial.

I have to agree with MMD here. I'm not seeing any of the classic signs of a redial.

Sorry I didn't mean to doubt your effort. I just needed to sound my concerns out and thanks for addressing it. I guess I've been too harsh on the dial then.

So going back to the main topic, would you keep the watch if you were in my shoes? I paid £1118 for it. Now I'm not too sure if I've overpaid seeing that the lume isn't creamy. Do you think £1118 is a good deal for this watch?

I personally feel that the pictures were quite misleading but the seller said that it was taken with a bright warm lamp and no photoshop was used. Hence, they didn't misdescribed and they won't reimburse the return shipping.

Completely agree that the pictures were misleading - intentionally. With that filter you can barely see the rust on the hands. If you aren't in love with it, try to get your money back. As for the dial, if it was a redial, it was done a long time ago. Overall I'm inclined to agree with @LarryS and @MMMD.

Personally I think the price appropriate for the condition. However if you absolutely hate it ... return it.

Alright. Thanks for weighing in guys. I think I will be refunding it. Just trying to negotiate and get the seller to reimburse the shipping as I feel that the photo misrepresented the watch.
