After a couple of months back home in Vietnam and thinking of semi retirement boredom kicked in. It appears that I now own a motorbike rental company catering for long term rentals and short term holiday rentals.

I also intend to do guided Vietnam motor bike adventures for all, if you can't ride or aren't confident we will provide the driver.

I am putting a deal together with a nice down to earth resort (on an island) to incorporate a four day bike ride with a four day resort stay with the ride being from Saigon, or to Saigon from the resort. If I have enough interest I might be able to do an OF only trip.

    Could be fun:)

Good luck in the new venture. What kind of bikes are you using? Don't you have archaic laws regarding bikes over something like 200cc? I am not too far from Vietnam and will ride over there some day but the logistics put me off. There was word of a common ASEAN visa but last I heard that was knocked on the head.

For the trip rentals I use Honda Airblades and Yamaha Nouvo 5's (full Auto). You have to have a different license for anything over 150cc. Anything under 150cc doesn't attract any attention and most who travel here don't have a bike license. The logistics of riding here is way harder than picking up something here. The Visa laws have relaxed a lot recently with many nationalities not requiring a visa for a stay up to two weeks.

You would do if you lived in a country with the highest road death statistics. I get sick of seeing bodies splattered across the road. Just the other day a woman down the road was hit by a bus. A helmet would not have helped but it would have made less mess and kept the bits together.

Do you by any chance work for the tourism industry there? ;)

I was joking. I wear a helmet when I ride my bicycle. I've never even rode a scooter or a motorcycle.

Wow! This sounds like it's going to be an exciting new venture for you! Good luck! Being of Vietnamese descent myself, I have not been back to my country of birth for almost 40 years. Once my son gets a bit older, my wife and I are definitely planning to go there so hopefully I will try to see if I can look you up

Best of luck in your new venture! This sounds like an excellent way to see the countryside and relax at the beach. Will certainly look you up when I'm in HCMC next.
