Congratulations on the Sub! They're great watches and a very nice compliment to the DSOTM. I know the larger lugs on the recent gen Rolex models are less popular with some purists but I prefer their looks myself. Good watch combo!

    Thanks!

I'm not crazy about the case shape. It's a bit too chunky/squarish for my puny wrist, but I can see how that is subjective (maybe after the next generation people will be preferring this one).

I am not a fan of the older Submariners because
    1) No ceramic, which means a lot more scratches and UV fade/corrosion
    2) Glidelock clasp on the current model is excellent. Super quick to adjust (I've done it even while walking on the street) and with very fine adjustment. Most comfortable watch I ever had thanks to that, the fit is always just perfect (even compared to rubber/leather)
    3) The solid links are much better than the older hollow versions that deformed more easily.

It's also a bit more accurate than the Omega 9300 on the DSOTM, but the difference is not significant since the 9300 is doing OK (1.2s/day vs ~0.5s/day). None of the two needs adjustment before they are inevitable due to the month/date changes.

Completely agree with all of those points. But even so, I still will probably end up buying an older model because I just can't make myself like the chunky lugs. Still undoubtedly a fantastic watch. Congrats.

Thanks. If there's a strong preference for the smaller shape/lugs, then I can understand why some users prefer to handle the drawbacks for it.
Maybe the next Sub will combine both. Here's my Basel 2018 prediction: Less chunky lugs and ceramic dial instead of the current material. I bet they will also add Glidelock in more models.
