So here's my little collection but nothing I can wear to the beach?

So here's what I've bought since becoming a member here (thanks for the help by the way!) but nothing that I would feel happy wearing on a beach/pool holiday in a weeks time:) I assume I'm not being too precious about them!

Any suggestions for something that I should look for that will cheaply fill that criteria, I assume it might be Seiko time?!

Agree with dsio. You seem to have a defined taste on the dressier side and the smp300 master would fit that collection well as a diver

Ideal, but doesn't quite fit the criteria of 'cheap'.........unfortunately:(

Buy a packet of cigarettes, take up smoking then quit, you'll get the watch for free with the money you'll save over the course of a year.

Or maybe step out of omega and longings all together and get a Seiko 6105. Good watch with a good history

I'd need to step out of Omega and Longines.........whilst both the SM300 & AT would be just what I'd like, both would end up being my most expensive watch and that wouldn't fit with my excuse of "I need to buy a cheap watch for the beach dear, I can't spoil my nice watches"

I think I'll investigate the Seiko route a bit more, just off to see what the hell a 6105 is!

During the Vietnam war the GI's where often given unreliable watches. They soon learned that once in Asia they could buy a cheap reliable bullet proof watch that could withstand the swamps, jungles, weather and wear. That was the seiko 6105. You can see Martin Sheen wearing one in Apocalypse Now.

Another great watch yeah. And also of course the submariners, but not exactly, even then, affordable to all

What about a nice older SMP 300? Throw it on a strap and it's great for beach/pool excursions. I just had mine on holiday at the beach. After 14 years it still performs flawlessly.

    Btw, outstanding collection, sir.

I'm always paranoid with sand in my cameras and now watches.. though it shouldn't affect watches but can scratch metal... I got a really cheap digital watch I don't care about throwing away when I'm at the beach.

What, no one likes my suggestion of a 31-jewel automatic 200m Russian watch? :)

Seiko makes beach / beater watches. Knock the shit out of them for a few years, then buy another.

A nice original 6105 will be >$900. Here is an original ad for the watch:

You can also get the cheaper 6309 (on the right) as well:

With that said, as you know, a vintage watch is not the best thing to expose to sand/water. A cheaper option would be a current Seiko SKX007. Super reliable.
