The watch, as you noticed, wasn't into a perfect condition. However, it was damn cheap and I couldn't resist. Usually one can find watches on the local market that are cheaper compared to what you can find on ebay - 2-3 times and even more... that's it, if you know where to search.

I was able to take more detailed photos. And here they are. Today I'm departing for one of the best watchmakers in my country to see about maintenance and restoration.

The watch does work and has a deviation of about 1 minute per 24 hours.

I just returned back from the watchmaker. And here's his assessment. The watch is truly legit (no fake) and maybe has been serviced before at least once. But it has happened long ago.

As for the dial - he wasn't surprised - most of the watches with enamel dials are cracked anyway. And it's part of the beauty of the antique watch. An old watch is a good watch if it looks old.

He does worry that during the maintenance small chops may appear - and it's a risky procedure.

As for the mechanism - there are some points of worry. It's working mechanism for sure. But it does have some wear and tear, and he mostly worries about the so called remontoire - there are some strange clicks, and there are no spare parts.

The most important stuff - it absolutely lacks oil....

So... here it is, I left the watch in his care for a week. He's one of the best watchmakers in my country - aside of him, there's one or two truly famous watchmakers. So I trust he'll do the best to service the watch.

After all, the other option is to send the watch straight to Omega... if I'm willing to give 2 000,00 CHF. And Omega will send it back to me... with everything changed inside. Like a new watch...

Today I'm quite happy! Just returned back from the watchmaker, and it turned out that this 100+ year watch is in much better condition than we thought!
How so? Decades ago somebody broke the regulator of the mechanism. After that, the watch was abandoned and left without care for decades - this is exactly why the mechanism was in good condition, with as little wear and tear as possible.
Still haven't had the chance to open it and photograph it post-service, right now I'm quite happy with the end result.
