And i'm quite happy how it turned out.

Step 1 Buy a Dutch Military box on Ebay from a guy in Rotterdam.
    Step 2 Strip it down.
Step 3 Sand it and varnish it.
Step 4 Put it back together over a week including a few changes.
Step 5 Fill it with watches and put in on the dressing table.

Nice detail with the improved access for what I assume is a springbar tool, stored on the right.

It looks great. Not sure it would be an improvement, but did you consider weathered brass hinges ...or invisible hinges? (the latter being more complex)

Edit: Now I'm sure – it wouldn't be an improvement. Very well designed!

Hey @trackpad Yep that's for a little spring bar tool. As for the hinges...I had enough trouble replacing the ones on there, invisible ones are a bit out of my league I think. Cheers.

    Nice outcome.
For the next one, my only suggestion would be to make the watch tray a "lift out" and not glued to the risers.

And then you would have a................SECRET COMPARTMENT! :D

Very nice work! I have a home made box as well but it's not near as nice. The best part is home made one are configurable as the collection grows.
