Click may have come loose/got stuck.

You could give it a few really hard bangs on a solid workbench to loosen it up.

Or you could do the sensible thing and take it to a watchmaker.

One would have to be hugely sentimental about this watch to pay what it would likely take to have someone fix it. Better maybe to just replace it.

I had this issue with a Speedy Mark II I bought. It kind of slowly crept backwards after each turn wound. Something wasn't locking correctly. As a new purchase I was having it revised anyway and the problem went away.

BTW is this the legendary 70's Snoopy "tennis racquet" timepiece , or the bog standard NASA Astronauts favourite?

Ah, legendary indeed. There was the 1976 yellow issue with the wonderful glossy (plastic) strap; the 1977 Denim issue, with the larger dial and much improved Ingersol movement which effectively used the expedient manufacturing techniques of pressed milk bottle caps; and finally the rarer 1981 red re-issue. The "doghouse" presentation boxes can sometimes be seen on ebay wedged between the much more common Omega "crater" boxes.

Of course, sticking click springs are not a known issue with these watches as the stem and crown usually fall out long before the lubricants congeal.

You display a worryingly comprehensive knowledge of cheap and nasty 70's watches...I'll wager you have a similar vintage Ingersol Mickey Mouse watch stashed away somewhere....go on..show us pics ..you know you want to.... :)

There's no Mickey Mouse. I've had a few Snoopies over the years and they are some of the best watches to guarantee a smile. There is one on my work bench at the moment and a 1950-something Cinderella in full working order (that one's quite sweet, actually).

Character watches are always popular once they're more than 20 years old.

That one's not likely to fit me and I don't have it here ... but, challenge accepted. You'll have to wait til I'm back in the UK.
