Hi guys! I bought 2nd hand and I have a problem. The bezel seems to be replaced and I would like to know is the insert Authentic or not? Thanks
I don't think omega do a separate bezel insert. As far as I know they only provide the full bezel. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong though
Insert definitely looks fake to me, the lume dot is way too prominent and the font looks wrong as well. TBH, I'm not too sure about the He valve either. Where'd you buy it? EDIT- The bezel font definitely looks wrong. Additionally, according to the stock photo on the Omega site, the bezel should be scalloped to either side of the lume pip, but on yours it's scalloped directly over it. http://www.omegawatches.com/collection/seamaster/300-m-chronometer/25318000
This could simply be from how it was installed into the bezel, so it's not a sign of anything other than an improper installation. But Cooko14 is right, Omega do not sell the aluminum inserts on their own, so aftermarket is a strong possibility here. The lume pip is certainly not right.
You can buy the bezel from places like Otto Frei, but I suggest you take it to a watchmaker with an Omega account who can do the job properly, and can get you a bezel.
Bezel looks heavily polished, mine has much sharper cuts. (Now that I finally can look this detail in my own SM Chrono) Sorry, just my 5 cents, no expert evaluation.... Bezel rings: http://www.luxurywatchstraps.co.uk/details.asp?itemid=26
