Recently acquired a 2226.80.00 Bond SMP (serial # 817xxxxx, from late 2007) that utilises a 2500 Co Axial but was wondering how I can tell which variant of the 2500 it houses? Done a bit of research and it seems it's probably going to be a 2500 'C'. Can anyone else confirm please?

Also, some stories kicking around indicating the C was unreliable. If I do have a 2500C should I be concerned? (it's well within COSC parameters and ticking away lovely at the mo).

    Thanks ☺

If it's from 2007, it will be a C version.

Thanks. Is the C version good as I have read so much negativity about it. It's +1 sec per 24 hours presently. Only had it a week though.

I have written a lot on this subject, so I won't repeat it here. If the C version were perfect, there wouldn't have been a D version...

Indeed. Everything is going to be improved on and superceded so long as customers and manufacturers strive for perfection.

Assume therefore the new Master Co-Axial beats ('scuse the pun) the D? (which I gather hasn't been exactly that superior anyhow?).

Not to go off on a tangent here, but sometimes things are changed in order to reduce manufacturing costs, etc. I'm not saying that is the case with these movements, but it is the case with a lot of mechanical things out there. There is a reason the phrase "They don't make them like they used to!" was invented.

If you have bothered to search and read the posts I've written about this in the past (both here and at WUS Omega forum) you will know what the issue is with the C and previous revisions.

By the way the D was not superseded - it is still a current movement in the Omega line up. It, and all other currently produced Omega co-axial movements, have the 3 level escapement that resolves the issues of the early 2500 and other 2 level escapement movements.

Yeah. I've since bothered to read up on this. Thanks Al. So much out there it's quite confusing and contradictory from various sources (interspersed with a sub-thread on archery etc ☺).

Of the 100s of thousands of 2500Cs how many have had such issues? No doubt Omega have kept some stats. The problems with forums is that they do tend to highlight negativity which is fine when helpful but sometimes advice is so intense it becomes mind boggling. Car forums are the worse, especially re the debates about DPFs and EGRs clogging. If ever there was a forum on childbirth (maybe there is) the human race would be so frightened off, future generations would cease to exist.

Good to read expert advice/knowledge on the C variant and duly taken on board. Will enjoy mine and keep the servicing up but I won't be losing any sleep over this. I wonder how many Omega (and/or other brand) wearers even know what movement their watches utilise (I'm sure most don't know, or care ...it's just us within the WIS community who do of course).

Anyone know when the 2500C was first used in production and for how long please?

Can't give you a start date off the top of my head, but I think the start coincides with the first PO's, as they never used the A or B version. The D showed up in late 2011 based on the technical guide updates.

The C lasted longer than the B, which lasted longer than the very short lived A version.
