SMP Ref 2531.80 bracelet fit on my 8 inch wrist?

I was this close to pulling the trigger on a 2531.80 with Closer on C24 and I mentioned I have an 8" wrist. He said the max the watch will accomodate is 17.5 cm (6.9"). Does anyone with giant ham hocks like mine have real life experience with this watch?

The 1503/825 bracelet is sizable. A new 1503/825 on the 2531.80 should fit an 8 inch wrist. If the preowned watch that you're considering can only accommodate a 7 inch wrist, per the seller, then it is missing some of the original links. Ask if they are included. You can purchase additional links and half links for the 1503/825 to fit any possible wrist size.

114ST1503 OMEGA Seamaster Professional 1503/825 Bracelet Removable Full-Link 20mm w/ Pin /w Tube
115ST1503 OMEGA Seamaster Professional 1503/825 Bracelet Removable Half-Link 20mm w/ Pin /w Tube

To order a complete 1503/825 bracelet and clasp:

020ST1503825 OMEGA Seamaster Professional 1503/825 Steel Bracelet 20mm w/ Clasp

Or take it to an AD/OB and they can sort and size it for you.

Edit to add:
I have a 7.5 inch left wrist on a warm day. I wear a 41+ mm watch easily and so will you. 👍

Thanks for the insight! I suspect there is something lost in translation here. Good to know I can proceed.

By "The belt size is a maximum of..." I think the seller means on THAT watch/bracelet, as sold, meaning that there are original links missing from the bracelet. You will need to purchase additional links for that watch/bracelet to accommodate your wrist size. They aren't cheap and honestly I'd keep looking for an example with all of the original links. Just me, though.

I'm pretty sure that means that it does not come with all of the links that the watch originally had when new.

It is VERY common for pre-owned watches to be missing links that originally came with the watch. For two reasons:

1) The original buyer took out links and lost them.

2) The dealer takes a link or two out before selling. And then offers to sell you the links back at an extra charge. 😡😡

Although it sounds like #1 in this case since the dealer says they don't have extra links to offer you.

As noted above, extra links can be purchased from Omega. They cost about $50 per link. But it will probably take 2-4 weeks for them to come in. Don't pay inflated prices on ebay for extra links. Omega still sells them and then you know they are authentic.

That's a conspiracy! Dealers would never do that!

I’m not playing some random YouTube link as I’m just not interested but be aware that Richemont owned Watchfinder in the UK routinely size the watch for you then retain and sell any extra links on eBay. I despise this practice.

The SMP as new would have come with an 8” bracelet. When you buy second hand this is one of the lesser noticed perils.

There are nice aftermarket bracelets from Uncle Seiko and Forstner that will fit this watch and look great, I'd you're open to non-OEM options.

Also, I've bought from Closer before and have found them to be honest and reputable, but I have also found that their prices are low often because they have not been serviced recently, so factor that into your decision.

Japanese based watches often have links removed so you have to be careful with any used watches from that part of the world. People buy a new watch, have it sized and don't think about the removed links. And the dealer just keeps the links, it's very dishonest.

On Omega's e-Commerce site you can indicate your wrist size, but I wonder if they send the removed links to you, or keep them.

The issue is not by any means limited to Japan.

As above, it’s very common to find that watches from Japan such as those sold by Closer are sized for a small-medium wrist and the buyer will need to source additional links.

Let's find out. I've just asked them. My money is on OMEGA not keeping your links and sending them with your order.

@gramboda if you end up needing additional links, the easiest thing you can do is take your watch and your wrist to an AD/OB and let them help you size it. They can measure your wrist, figure out how many full and half links you require, order them for you, and then size the bracelet for you once they come in. Otherwise you will need the tools to do this yourself, which I recommend, but not on your first watch in hand. I would ask them to order one addition full and half link for you in case you ever need them.

You can also order the links yourself by calling SGUS to place a mail order. I recommend emailing them first to get the stocking order numbers, current prices, and stock status before phoning in your order. Their service guide with all of their contact info is below.

I still recommend that you find a preowned watch with all of the links included to save yourself the time and trouble. ✌️

OMEGA's response to my inquiry about receiving removed bracelet links with online orders:

"If a size smaller than the standard is selected, the removed links will be included inside the watch box."

Thanks, good to know that Omega aren't ratbags in this matter.

OP, are you sure you really need / want an OEM bracelet? There are so many cool aftermarket options 😁
