Love this reference. I’m a big fan of no date Seamasters, and had to have this one when I saw it was announced.

When it arrived about a week ago, the most surprising thing to me is the bezel. Unlike other laser ablated bezels, this one is completely smooth. UPDATE: it was the most seemless bezel protector I’ve ever seen...took several attempts with a tiny pin to catch the edge. If your dealer doesn’t remove it, I’m guessing many owners won’t either (I didn’t for a week).

Take a look at the “40” marker or the inside edge of the bezel and you can clearly see what I’m referring to.

That is just the shipping bezel protector. Prise it off where there is a gap. it should pull away easily. None of the promo pictures show that on the bezel.

 

You’re right. It was a bezel protector. Perhaps the most seemless/stealth bezel protector I’ve ever seen.
Had to get a pin out to pry the edge up...certainly wasn’t easy. If the dealer doesn’t remove it, I imagine many owners will not realize it is there and just leave it on.

 

If Rolex came with that surely half the owners would never remove them! I see so many Rolex wrist shots with stickers still in place, seems crazy to me.

Actually, ceramic submariners do come with a very similar protector over the insert, which is funny... silicon protects the ceramic

 

If Rolex came with such a protector it would be selling for 500 bucks on eBay.

 

Or...there would be a 15 year waiting list to get one

 

I really liked the dial on this one when I tried it on, but can't get over the Yachtmaster bezel :/ My current dream is to install the standard blue ceramic on it, would look awesome
