Hi all.

Was wondering if anyone had success changing out the clasp for a newer one that has micro adjustments? I've heard that you can but called omega and they had no idea what I was talking about.. if anyone here has had success please post pics and what parts you got from omega.

As always, thanks in advance for any replies/suggestions

Yes, it's been done. I've done it with a 1504/826 bracelet, that's the one for the Seamaster Chrono Diver of the same era. The parts you'll need are the same.

You need the clasp itself, some pins (2) and screws(4), as the clasp comes with none. and a couple of connecting links for the Bond style bracelet.

You will also need a pin pushing tool for adjusting pin/collar bracelets.

Keep in mind that there are 3 versions of these clasps:
117STZ001154 (the one shown) has 6 extension positions but NO diver's deployable extension.
117STZ001159 has 6 extension positions and diver's deployable extension (a bit longer than the 1154).
117STZ004666 has 3 extension positions and NO diver's extension (a bit shorter than the 1154).

Excellent post Blackdog! Always cool to see successful DIY projects.

An alternative option is to just add a half-link to the 2531's bracelet. Judging by how tight that under-wrist shot looks, it looks like you have room for even a full link to be added?

I think the adjustable clasp is a great counter-balance to the SMP Chrono, but might be too thick for the 2531 (which is already thinner than the 2220). Personally, I'd keep the thinner original clasp and see if you'd be happy with a half-link added.

Clearly, just a half link would be the easiest and cheapest (by far) option.

I agree with Alfista, the new clasp complements the Chrono Diver really well, but might be a bit too much for a non chrono.

I tried the 1154 with a Speedy Pro and it was way too much. I went back to the original clasp (and eventually to an Uncleseiko Holzer).

Half link added already! Great for summertime, fits good in warmer weather but in colder need finer adjustments, cant get it just right and really think different clasp will help. I'll bet they aren't as thin as what I have now but we will see.

Thanks so much!!

Changing to an 1154 made my Speed Pro so much nicer. The width, to me, is a non-issue and I never even noticed it.

The fix by @Blackdog is terrific, thanks. The half link didn't solve my problem; with the link my SM300 chrono is too loose. Without the link it is too snug, esp. in the heat and humidity of the South. My watch guy is not an Omega dealer (he sold it "pre-owned.") Will that pose a problem with his ordering parts? There is an Omega AD nearby but I've never done business w him and he'll surely charge more than an arm and a leg to do the work. Any suggestions?

I think you can only order the parts through an official AD or an Omega Boutique. The prices for the parts are fixed by Omega.
There are online places like swisswatchspares.com that stock the parts, but are usually more expensive than getting them directly from Omega.

To do the work you can go to your watch guy with all the parts, or do it yourself. It's not too difficult, but you need a couple of basic tools.

I'll probably consider this one, although would be good to know the lengths of each if possible?
My wrist also change in thickness a little, enough to become annoying sometimes.

When replacing the clasp, did you also have to add or remove any links?

I'm currently looking to buy an early Seamster 300M, and so far struggling with finding one with a bracelet that fits my 19cm wrist, so will need to buy sa link or 2, not sure because I don't have one to measure how much each link affects the wrist size, anyone know or able to measure please?
