SMP 2531.80 on US 1171 - blasphemy or not?

I just put it on the Uncle Seiko 1171 - a very light and comfortable bracelet. I have been wearing the SMP for more than 8 years now, the stock bracelet is really comfortable, but tad heavier for my taste + not tapering is not the greatest design to me as the watch case does not stand out. Somehow the proportions are now better I guess.

What do you think?
Take care.

Looks good, although I would have you hung, drawn & quartered.馃榾
I love the heavy bracelet on my 2531.80 and as it was my first decent watch it set the benchmark for me. I have an Uncle Seiko flatlink on my 'Watchco' SM300 and to me it feels a bit lightweight. I find if you don't have it tight the weight of the watch rolls off the 'flat' of the wrist.

Yes, James Bond would roll over in his grave and you should be shot. That being said, it looks fine. 馃榾

He has feigned death in the Bond films several times to fool his enemies, but he always comes back!

The US1171 definitely looks much nicer than the stock bracelet IMHO.

well...I think it looks the bee's knees! The SMP 2531 is one of those great character watches.

Personally, I still prefer the original bracelet on the 2531.80 as it is so closely associated with it. However, the US bracelet works fine. I think that the US is less flashy than the original bracelet so if that's the look you're going for then you've hit the target.

Hey, my Omega peeps, I've got another Bond Watch question if that's ok? I would like to know what the community thinks about the 2531.80 automatic and the 2561.80 quartz Seamasters. It's my understanding both of these watches were worn by Pierce Brosnan in the first of his bond movies "Goldeneye". Anyway, I'd like to know if these watches hold any special place in the mind of an Omega collector especially an Omega collector who likes the Bond movies? I know someone who has these two watches and is selling them but I don't know nearly enough about these watches to even consider buying them. Also, the price is very low, under $3k for both. I thought that might just be because the Quartz model is really inexpensive but the automatic is not that much more if I were to buy them separately. Sorry, I'm off-topic, does anyone here have any idea what these watches mean to Omega collectors if anything. Thank you all, as a Rolex guy I'm not that smart when it comes to collector's editions.

Hi there and welcome to the forum!
As far as I'm aware they only hold a special place as it's the first Omega ever worn by James Bond, specifically the references 2541.80 (quartz) and 2531.80 (chronometer). It's a watch that has helped raise awareness and interest in Omegas in general. As to whether the watches you're considering are worth that sort of money, all I can say is "it depends". What's the age and condition of the watch? Has it been serviced recently? Just under US$3k still sounds a bit much to pay per watch, especially the quartz one. If anyone else on this forum wants to correct me on this, I'm all ears...

The under $3k was for both. Thanks for all your input. Seems to be interesting but not really all that collectable.
