Dears, Not sure, but I think I might have broken the crown. I just pulled it to set the time and... the result is below. Am I working out too much?
It's definitely not supposed to do that. I have little experience to help because the only crowns I've ever held in the palm of my hand either screwed back onto a stem or were/are still attached to a stem which had come out of the stem tube. You, on the other hand appear to have the stem still in the tube and the stem tube appears not to be threaded on the outside. I'm fascinated....
Thanks for the feedback. So I will need to give it back to my watchmaker and he will need to open the movement to replace it. More or less how much can I expect for this?
Somewhere between $1 and $1 million. The best person to ask is your watchmaker, who will find out if he can get a crown, how much that will cost, and then add what he thinks is an appropriate amount for the labour involved.
You could just try to hit it with a hammer. If it doesn’t work the first time, I’ve found if I just get a bigger hammer, eventually the problem gets solved.
Sweetie, Shit happens, and this time shit happened to you. If it makes you feel any better, most of us who've been in the game long enough have had that happen to them as well. Don't know. Looking buff?
Forgot to followup. The watch was serviced in AD for a standard price of circa 500 Eur, including Crown repair. Now is perfect.
