Small pleasures

First the required photos. Seems like times to enjoy the smaller events in our day. Today was the monthly winding of the pocket watch collection to keep the oils from settling to much. Yes, all have been serviced. I forget each month what a smile it brings and how satisfying it is to hear them all ticking in their case. Especially when the 1799 Thomas Gray starts ticking after a 1/4 turn of the key. It looses a few minutes a day, but I’d be tired too after 221 years. These mechanical wonders never cease to amaze me. The wrist watches all get worn in rotation so no routine winding required.

Everyone take care and enjoy the small things.

Yes, a birthday present back in 1987 from my first wife who passed from breast cancer in 1997. Also, in the garage 1966 Bonneville (being restored), 1970 Daytona (nut and bolt restoration by me), 1974 Honda CT70 (1200 miles on the OD) and two Vespa GTS 300s. This in the first year since 1997 I haven’t gone on a ten day solo motorcycle tour. Damn virus.

Impressive collection - thanks for sharing. Damn virus indeed

My grandfather was an engineer for Norton, and Ariel during the inter-war years.
This is him on his Ariel Square Four, c1930’s. I remember this motorcycle stored in his shed, when I was a child, wrapped in the same leather jacket in this photo.
I didn’t inherit the Ariel, but his Omega Geneve was passed to me

Have a good one
