Could the esteemed members please assist in identifying why this bezel is in small font compared to the conventional
Has this been seen before and what is the provenance

I have seen one example and it was on the speedy big blue

Was told it was a probable prototype but understandably sceptical
Have added another former early example for comparison

Anybody out there willing to help on the big blue

I’d love to know as well. There appear to be a few bezel variations but I haven’t figured out the number of variants, the order they came in, why there were multiple variations, etc.

Yes that correct and I have only seen one version like mine and it was for sale on Matt Bains site

It’s still there in his archives but with a strange Dial which looks like the speedmaster variation

That appears to be a 176.005 dial. I have a Japanese book on Seamasters that shows that dial on a 176.004 but my suspicion is that it was an incorrectly installed service dial.

To my understanding there are two executions of the OEM Big Blue bezel as the above link shows. It appears the OPs bezel is either a service or aftermarket.
