I have my name down for a Snoopy, I am number three on the list so I there is a small chance that I might bag one of those, however if I don't then I was considering comforting myself with either a seamaster 300 master co axial or a Planet Ocean with Titanium case and rubber strap. Both are a similar price, with the PO being on offer. I like them both equally as much, but which one is the better watch?

When it comes to titanium, forget the rubber ;)

That titanium is amazing! Wow. What's the reference number on that bad boy?

I have the SM300 and a stainless PO. I really like both but, I have to say, if I was forced into a decision between the two, I would pick the SM300. image.jpg

The thing is, the titanium on the rubber strap is on offer with a reduction of 1200 gbp so that is mainly why it is up for consideration.

My preference is for the whole hog when it comes to the titanium, so in your case I'd go for the SM300 (even though I'm not a fan of the PCL bracelet)

Having had a bit more of a search I found the PO with titanium braclet for almost the same price as the SM, so both are an option.

I'm not the biggest fan of the smp300. But given this choice that's the one I'd pick. It's more wearable under any condition, dress to casual to sport or dive.

i think ti depends on whether you want a classy watch (smp300) or one that shows class and is sporty the PO

I was thinking more about the quality of the movement and those kind of things rather than which one looks better, that after all that is said and done, just down to personal taste and between the two of them, I like the look of both of them in equal measure.

Well the sm300 is a master coaxial so is a slightly more advanced movement. Or at least updated.

The Seamaster 300 gets my vote. Very classy for a sporty watch.

(personally, I'd even take the Seamaster 300 over the Snoopy  )

As stated the smp300 had the latest movement for Omega. So if that is the driver for your purchase it's kind of clear. The improvements are mainly on the antimagnetic qualities of the watch more than performance though.

That said in actual use both watches have great durable and proven movements and finishes so my recommendation would be to actually choose the one that looks and feels better to you, because internally they are not that different and at the end of the day what you see is going to be what you have to live with every day.

This is exactly the question I found myself pondering about a year ago. both are great all-around and can dress up or dress down.
There are several posts from me with excellent replies from other members of the forum.

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/my-last-watch-planet-ocean-or-new-seamaster-300.15991/

In the end, for me, it came down to the date function: I needed it.
I ended up with a 45mm TiPO on blue rubber strap with Ti deployant.
SO light and comfortable. Have never regretted it.

hugely agree with @Nobel Prize that you have GOT to go and try to them both on, probably on multiple occasions, before you decide between these great options.

the biggest differences, in my opinion, other than how they look, is that PO has a date while SM300 doesn't, and SM300 is master co-ax, while PO isn't.

    more subtle differences:
the blues are different between Ti SM300 and TiPO. (i like Ti PO's blue MUCH more)
42mm PO wears much larger than the 41mm SM300
i like the looks of the Ti PO on Ti bracelet much more than the PCL look of the blue or black SM300 on bracelet.

i am personally less of a bracelet guy, and i love the casual feel/look of the blue rubber strap on the PO. i bet a steel (black) SM300 looks killer on a black rubber strap as well.

could go Ti PO on bracelet and buy the blue rubber strap as well to dress up or dress down. two watches in one.
    hope that helps.
good luck and keep us posted.

PS: i would personally go for either over a snoopy any day.

hey sergio, isn't the SMP300 the bond watch, or are those terms interchangeable?

No, it is not. The original "Omega" Bond watch was the blue faced with wave pattern dial SMP300 leading into the SMP 300c in Casino Royale. Since then the Bond watches have been several. PO 45.5, AT 38mm blue face (Skyfall). PO 42mm 8500 and now for the next movie the AT 41.5 mm and there SMP300 Mc. However, as you will see on a couple of other threads the SMP300 Mc considered the Bond watch for Spectre is not, (as a huge disappointment for some and great joy to others) the regular issue watch, but the version with large logo, 0-11 bezel non PCL and Nato.

So in my view the SMP300 MC isn't interchangeable with "Bond"

sorry. i mean i thought the term 'SMP300' is usually used for the 'diver' and not the vintage-looking 'new' seamaster 300s. .

or what do you use to distinguish them when using 'shorthand?'

oh yeah, you are right on that one. the SMP 300 was always the one with the polygon bezel...since the original was discontinued. The moment they re-issued the SMP 300 "vintage" everyone kinda just went with the re-naming and most people call the new one the SMP 300. period. In my case I just assumed that's what the OP was talking about based on the pics posted afterwards.

I call the Polygon bezel one SMP300c and the re-issue SMP300Mc

Interesting to read that some would hop over the snoopy completely. I am planning to go the the AD to see both watches in person. I have to wait until next month until I buy as I want to buy at home rather than in Kuwait, where I am living right now. Thanks for all your input so far, the Snoopy thing is getting me thinking because you never really know until you put a watch on your wrist if you like it, love it or think naah.
