I came upon what appears to be a military SM300 that was listed for sale at $650 last night, but reached out and learned that I missed it - it sold about 48 hours prior. I can't stop thinking about it. Every time I do, it makes me feel sick. Did someone really snag a $20K+ military SM300 for $650 just a couple days before I got my chance? The seller had received five Omegas from his uncle who recently passed away and listed all of them for $650-1,000, clearly without doing any research. I haven't taken any time to really dig into early Seamasters, so I'm hoping that some of you experts can make me feel better and point to some reason, ANY reason why this isn't as rare and valuable as I think it was.
Even without the listing and the poor pictures....I'm 99,9% certain it's one of the normal fake ones. Bezel is fake and dial also.
I guess we missed the seller's posting on OF where he would have asked about the great watches that he knew nothing about that his uncle left him.
As soon as I saw the word "Uncle" I would have become 5 times more skeptical. So how sick would you have felt if you gave him $650 for a fake?
Ah...that bezel..too much space between the outside ring and the numbers...dead giveaway. I saw the open 9 and thought it had a chance. Hope springs eternal. Rob can rest well tonight
