They are dealers and can ask what they like.
No one needs to pay it.

IMHO, dial and hands are relumed. The bezel probably had something done to it.
Movement’s condition is not in line with the dial and hands and bezel.
    Service crown.
    Worn case.
IMHO a tired horse dressed as a race stallion.

I was a little suspect of the hands but the dial and bezel?

There should be pinholes in the 6 and 12 o’clock markers. The lume looks more like clay than tritium. I would first ask if the lumes glow before buying. About the bezel, well it has no degradation, which happens to nearly all original bezels, even the nicest ones. I bet it does not glow either.
Anyway bezel, hands and dial are consistent with the case and movement condition. Which is suspicious.
Only my opinion, but it sure gives a nice first impression. Typical noob’s tax for deep pocket person who will end up posting here, « Is my watch legit ? ».

Lume aside, this shows what dealers do in regards to influencing markets.

They get a piece, mark it super high, and then deal on it...when they mark it sold, no one knows the actual selling price.

Some dealers mark current prices at 6 minths out on their estimate of market.

    Who knows...

    I saw it this morning.

Funny that this was $2k just 2 years ago IMG_20171116_092526_195.jpg

Suposedly the ealy ones don’t have pinholes and this is a 1967,
I always feel more comfortable seeing them and I personally don’t like the lume on this one.
    Apart frombthe colour.

A 1967 SM300 should have pinholes, like this one. Note the typical spots or color changes on the bezel. Also there is no oxydation on the hands.

Only the white second hand looks like it has the original lume. The other hands and luminous plots seems to have been relumed.

Why taking care of reluming dial hands and bezel to match so perfectly and not the second hand

My small experience with sm300 is don't judge just on the non matching colour. Those watch aged a very strange way. My bet is hours and minute where relumed ( texture of the luminous is more luminova) but the dial have a nice rough appearance even if no dot. Bezel could have been relumed as I know someone doing this type of job perfectly.
Anyway... I dont like it... When Patina kill patina...

I feel like more people should be aware of this. I stopped into HQ Milton when I visited SF and mentioned that I couldn't really afford most of the prices listed on their site, and Jacek told me that all prices are negotiable and most of the watches sell below asking (how far below, well that depends). I still can't afford their stuff regardless of any discounts but it's good to keep in mind that asking price /= selling price.

Very good point. As a counterpoint I can tell you that dealers like HQ Milton can pay as much or more for watches than independent collectors can sell them for outright. I have sold watches to HQ Milton and Lunar Oyster and have been very happy with the prices that I have gotten.

Back to the matter at hand, the Seamaster 165.024 on the HQ Milton site now. I agree that the lume looks off, no needle points at 12 and 6. There is a palpable sense of how internet dealers are "making" the market over the past several years and this certainly a good example of that. Condition has become more important than ever as availability for desirable vintage watches decreases. This has become a license to price watches at levels that have become unfathomable for many collectors. I was excited last week when I saw a clean Speedmaster 2915-3 for sale at lunar oyster.com until I saw the price was $75,000;-) I'll close by reminding everyone about the Rolex Bubbleback bubble: many collectors have been holding onto watches that they purchased 10+ years ago that are currently selling at values that are less than they paid.

Every time I think the end of the market is there I'm surprised again. In general prices at HQM are imho pretty reasonable...

Wow That's remarkably similar to the HQ Milton one.
