You are comparing two different generations. That 80's sub is hideous with the wg surrounds. This is the "real" sub 馃榾

Thats awesome, the dial is stunning. i gave up trying to find one in such good condition!

I wonder what the SM300 would've looked like with a top hat crystal. For some reason I can't bring myself to imagine it.

I am also part of those who will take a 5513 over a 1680, and regardless of whether it is red or white!

just curious, does anyone here swim (or dive) with their vintage subs or sm300's?

I have a watchco rebuild that I regularly swim with, but curious to what extent a vintage model can be made water resistant?

I dont, just because the examples I have are perfect and don't want to risk it...but they are all pressure tested and absolutley capable. Just don't see the need to take a 10k watch underwater.

huh? The SM may have been put together in 2011, but the design is from another decade
Of course the SM design is from another decade - that is what I meant by Omega missing a trick. The Sub, despite all its upgrading over the years, is visually very similar to what it has always been - and it sells well. It is a classic design. The SM was a good looking watch and from the opinions expressed on this forum, is much liked. The modern SM seems to be lacking something (IMHO of course).

I haven't yet taken mine. it is also services and pressure tested so it should be fin but I just haven't had the chance to take it to the ocean yet. (just got it this winter) Still I think I would take my smp cx or my PO xl tot he ocean first, simply because I care less about those two and I got them precisely to have good, reliable pieces that are war horses and not particularly as valuable . specially since the 5512 is my birth year. More afraid of the sand and playing with my son than of the water itself though.

My first 1680 just arrived today...still prefer the 5513.

Nice - mine says hello.

Cheers, Al
