Respectable Members My friend is a little too slow, thinking whether or not to buy this SM 300 (at A$3 995.00) and now it is 'SOLD'. http://www.thewatchgallery.com.au/shop/omega-all-original-1960s-seamaster-300-165-024/ However, there is another on chrono24 but the price is much higher (US$5 244.00) than the one from 'The Watch Gallery' Melbourne. http://www.chrono24.com/en/omega/se...ch&dosearch=true&urlSubpath=/search/index.htm Which do you think is the better of the two watches, taking into account factory-originality and $$, apart from other aspects? Thank-you.
last time i was in at the watch gallery, they said that their website is often chronically out of date, and lots of things in stock are not on the website, etc
Respectable Member CanberraOmega My friend has contacted 'The Watch Gallery' and they do not have anymore SM 300 for sale, unfortunately. Thank-you.
Well they both have the 1506 strap which is good but most prefer the 1039 (original). The first one has an aged patina that is some-what abnormal and the secound one has a beautiful patina. The price of the first is at the high average and the secound one priced very high...(Darn...I'd consider selling mine at that price.) The secound one is in excellant shape and not quite mint (meaning no marks). I would not move on either......a better deal for one can be had. Both seem original......bezel on the secound one looks first edition.//Best regards
Your friend should follow the UK auction rooms, last night he could have had this equally comparable Seamaster 300 for almost half the price (check lot 87) http://www.arthurjohnson.co.uk/sale_results/result/0525H/cat/S2?pg=4
Bloody hell, that Speedy was in a bit of a state Wonder if the rust on the bracelet hints at something worse inside the case
Hi Neil. It'd definitely be worth a physical inspection before bidding. Don't think I'd be brave enough to chance it otherwise !
Yep, buyers premium is strong but still a good buy and all the Speedies were worth a punt at that kind of money, nothing like a good project watch
It's roughly what the '67 Speedy will end up costing me once I have paid 20% VAT, which is why I think I got it for a reasonable price & not a great price.
Blimey Guys....not often we see a Sub £2k 321 Speedy nowadays....regardless of condition ! Best - Neil
We're just a bunch of cheapskates... Or out of touch dinosaurs. Depends on your point of view I suppose.
I just had a conversation with a couple of guys I've know for a while, and we were wondering if we've been stuck bidding at 2011 prices - and it's costing us watches. I would bet that the majority of us aren't cheapskates, just a little behind the times. I know I've shelled out more than market value for premium pieces in excellent condition and it's paid off after a couple years as far as their current value...... not that I want to make a habit out of that.
Respectable Member MyVintageOmega The information you provide is appreciated. My friend is now lying low, till a reasonably priced great condition one comes along. However, we will not wait for your watch to be on the market sooner or later, despite your saying '(Darn...I'd consider selling mine at that price.)'. If ever you decide to sell, it will a long wait from now. Thank-you.
Respectable Member T5AUS Indeed it appears almost half the price. When taking into account the buyer's premium of 20% and also, GST plus all the duties (approximately another 15% more) to be paid when the watch finally arrives in Australia, it is not cheap any longer. Thank-you.
