Sizing Speedmaster 1998 bracelet with "clasp attaching link" versus a 1610 half link?

I have been reading posts regarding sizing the 1998 bracelet and use of the 1610 half link. I then saw a post on WUS that mentions possibly using the "Omega 1620 Clasp Attaching Link at 12" to get a better fit. (OME-118ST162012)
The OP stated: "The attaching link for the 1620 bracelet is longer to accommodate for the curvature of the 1620 bracelet links. The 1998 bracelet is flat where it enters the clasp, the curvature of the 1620 would prevent the links from entering the clasp , therefore the longer attachment".
Has anyone heard of this or tried it themselves. I'm interested in pros/cons as I'm in need of this or a half link to get the perfect size.
    regards,

Thanks for answering! I just realised that I of course have the new speedmaster bracelet with the screws.. guessing there is now similar this to do to it

This is a timely resurrection for me. I was quoted today the price for the 3 position adjustable clasp + endlinks of about USD 400 (CAD360 + 73x2 + 25 shipping = CAD 531). I was hoping this endlink method I remembered reading about would work.
