Can anyone give me any insight into how case size is measured on the Seamaster? The Speedmaster sizing is a bit deceptive, as the case size measures the diameter using the crown guard, so the Speedmaster Pro, ostensibly 42mm, is really closer to 40mm if you measure it from one edge the bezel to to the opposite edge. Is there anything similarly non-straightforward about the case size measurement protocol on the Seamaster, or does the case size really reflect the size of the bezel (obviously there are no crown guards at play here)?
The PO42 does wear a fair bit bigger partly because the thickness is significant and makes it feel bigger
Thanks. I'm really mostly interested to know how the diameter measurements are taken, i.e. is anything included beyond the edge of the bezel, like in the Speedy.
Typically its measured diagonally across the watch case, so from 8 O'Clock to 2 O'Clock in order to remove the crownguards from the equation to some extent.
Aha! I knew I was right to be skeptical of Omega's representations on case size. According to this post, as with the Speedmasters, the bezel diameters (presumably measured with calipers) of both the SM300 and the PO are noticeably smaller than the advertised case size. http://www.chronomaddox.com/omega/articles/downtown_mike/PO_vs_SeMP/review.htm
