I thought the 38.5mm was too small...

What do you guys think of the 41.5?

Passable. Certainly wouldn't want to go any larger on your wrist.

My wrist is a few mm under 7 inches.

I removed 3 full links (2 from the 6 and 1 from the 12) and the watch is snug.

I felt the larger was a little more sportier.

Agreed. Once you subtract the fish-eye effect of macro it's probably a good fit, but certainly the largest you size you could wear without looking clownish. My wrist is about the same size as yours (6.75") and the most I've ever worn is 42mm - a vintage Heuer Autavia. I find 35mm to 39mm to be right in my wheelhouse. Larger than 40mm is uncomfortable for me unless the crown is offset so it doesn't dig into the back of my hand.

EDIT: Illustrations from me & Superdoc of the macro fish-eye effect.....

On the pictures it looks big to me, but try taking a picture of the watch on your wrist standing in front of a mirror...or rather the pic of the reflection. this will double the distance without loosing the detail and quite often will take the distortion of the lens away. Great watch anyway.

I think it depends on what you think. Do you like the look and feel of a 41.5mm?

I love the watch. My wife gave it to me as a gift when my other watch broke.

I just want to make sure that I do not look ridiculous.

Note: it is a lot harder take a picture of yourself in the mirror.

The size looks perfect to me in your photos.

The differential in appearance between wrist shots and mirror shots never occurred to me before ... It makes a big difference in the perception of how one sees one's own watch as opposed to how others see it. Interesting. In any case, I think you've got a keeper (both watch and wife, that is).

a good place for large wrist watches is in the watch pocket -- to keep them safe while working.

Looks great!! The watch has a lot of presence no matter what size ratio to wrist You have. The dial size is bigger than a 42 or 45 mm PO or diver because there is no diver bezel. As such it appears large until you get used to it. I have wrists a tad over 7.25 and it still sometimes takes me a minute if I've been wearing a sub or PO etc.

Anyway, get used to it on your end, from out here it has presence but it is not off putting.

By the way my wife does not give me watches as presents, so congratulations on that one too.

The size is fine, but get out of your kid's room before they catch you taking watch selfies in poses like a JC Penny's catalog model.

    Thoughts please...

I currently have a Suunto Terra Elementum which looks like this close up:

    IMAG0657.jpg
Which is in danger of looking too big, but this from a distance:
(Excuse state of me, just woke up...this was the first worry on my mind!)
    IMAG0656_1.jpg

Which I think looks fine. I'm looking to buy this:

    IMAG0652_1.jpg

Within the next two hours and I'm having last minute doubts about the size. It's virtually the same size as the Suunto, and looks the same on the wrist up close.

I only found this thread just now, and the trick of looking at it from afar, so yesterday when trying it on, I didn't take the distance photo.

If it will look no bigger than the Suunto from afar (why should it, it's the same size?) the only question remaining is, does *that* look too big on me?

Come on OF: please stop me from looking like a tit!
