    sinn 556

this is quite possibly the best all around sport/dress watch for a 7" wrist on every level.. i'm sure it would even fit close to the same way at 6.75" to 7.5"

so much watch for being sinn's entry level watch. most of their models are major tool watches that are oversized, or have feature that you don't want.

having worn 100's of watches this is in the top percent of all of them if not on top on fit alone and definitely on almost every other variable.

    ideally sized 38.5mm with a 45'ish L2L length

they have several 556 models: date/no date...3-6-9-12 dial vs indices,..great dial color selection..both cover sport and elegance while retaining tool aspects..each leaning a little one way towards.

    it's priced right with f-off value with a elabore eta 2824 @ $800-1200

sinn even did the unthinkable..they made a no date and offer it in a micro small date as well as standard 3'oclock date, on some models...they also offer this watch in LE models

if i have to say there is a drawback it's the underside of the lugs are a lil sharp on a strap

If I'm honest that watch is not for me. I do like the shirt and jacket though.

Do like the green no date as a field watch style. Mrs STANDY was looking at field watches the other day....

i have to say several years ago i felt similar. this wasn't love at first sight. it was it's okay,.....thing is once i bought the kazimon eins from pad, i knew this was a watch that i wanted another of. the fit is just exceptional. so much so you start scouting dials and bracelet/strap options for which one to get. i really could see myself owning several of these.

i know it's a strong recommendation, but i really think it's worthy it of it

It is one heck of a watch. I have been very tempted more than once. If I didn't already have a daily watch that I am committed to this would be a no brainer.

The Hamilton Khaki Field is an attractive though more rugged looking comp for half the price.

I will agree with you that the Hamilton Khaki Field is a great watch. I have owned several over the years. However, there is no comparison between the build quality of the Hammy and the build quality of the Sinn. Sinn is far and away the superior product. As for the Hammy being more rugged, I take issue with that as well. The Sinn is made of better steel and it has 200m water resistance. One thing that I will say is that it has always bothered me that watches costing over $1000 are outfitted with ETA 2824 movements, and more recently the Sellita clones. They are fine movements, but I think you deserve more for your money.

Nice but I would personally take a Damasko DA36 or Omega Dynamic Gen 3 ahead of that Sinn. I can see the appeal as a pure tool watch though.

I said “rugged looking” as opposed to the op’s description of “sport/dress.”

the omega dynamic dial is almost cartoonish. the comic sans like numeral font on both the date and dial is worthy of a chuckle every time i see it.

That is one interpretation certainly but in fact the number font used is nothing like Comic Sans. It is actually more like an Arabic cursive rendering of the Arabic numerals. It makes for a very legible dial, especially at night. Here is Comic Sans:

See what I mean? You may be right that they are highly stylised, but it isn’t Comic Sans...

    uh huh..it's highly stylized alright.

Yup. You may not like it but as I say it makes for a dial which is works better in low light than any Damasko or Sinn*. The only thing better in my experience is the 2254/5 sword hands set up. I don’t know what the Germans use for lume but it isn’t as good as the stuff the Swiss use. I do like the clarity of the aero look 3-6-9-12 Sinn designs though.

*the Dynamic Gen 3 was actually available with both Tritium or Superluminova as it straddles the change over, my comments refer to the later SL version.
