Hi Folks: Do people think the Silver Snoopy is in the 11k-13k range or has the pricing picked up? Crown and Caliber is asking 20k for one and they tend to be relatively good in terms of figuring out the market. Thoughts?
Dreaming. One sold locally here for AU$10k (US $7500). It lasted only a few hours. Darren also had one on here for a reasonable price.
I'll say it again: A seller can ASK whatever they want for a watch. It doesn't mean anyone is actually going to PAY that much. One of these days I am going to list my Seiko Pepsi for $25,000. I mean, it was once owned by the most famous moderator of watch forums named ulackfocus! That's GOTTA be worth something, right? ( )
Hi @Mark22aa Hi Guys[emoji137]That brand new Silver Snoopy was advertised in the Singapore watch forum 26 weeks ago was up for sale for USD 16 629 /= - Non Negotiable- A Malaysian colleague of mine contacted the seller to inquire about the Snoopy after a few days but left frustrated when he was informed that the watch had already been snapped up! He suspected the buyer was from Hong Kong I dont believe the price will ever drop & a LE Speedy with its Rich History & an amazing provenance will never stabilized because The Sky's the Limit ! Call it Exorbitant , Inflated , Bloated or just plain Vulgar , wealthy horological & non horological Singaporeans & Hong Kong Millionaires dont give a Rat's Ass what you think the price should be.... A Chinese businessman i once met at a lunch talk in a hotel , cast his eyes on my watch & thought i was wearing the JB Spectre but it was actually the regular version with the Original JB Nato Strap . When i told him otherwise , he just nodded & literally told me " If it was really the Spectre in question, i would have thrown 8750 US dollars at your face., unbuckle the strap & take the bloody watch off you ! ". I was kicking myself , regretted my decision last year to politely decline the OB offer to reserve one Snoopy for me I wont be the least surprise if the buyer was actually an intermediary or middle-man who was instructed to buy the watch for his Boss who probably owns an AP Royal Oak but bought the Silver Snoopy anyway as a gift for his college bound son ( more likely is the typical Asian scenario when the son pesters his father daily for the Snoopy so that he could boast to his friends in college ! ) USD 20 K for the "Silver Snoopy " you say ? Dude ! That's " Peanuts " for affluent Singaporeans or Hongkies !!!
I respectfully disagree. For watches with actual 'amazing provenance' this may be true but the Snoopy and CK2998 are just limited editions with no actual significance beyond the rather artificial cap on production numbers. When the next LE comes along and then the next after that Snoopy and CK2998 values will fall as soon as the frothy money moves on to the next big thing. Picture the queues for the 2017 60th Anni edition, some of those buyers will dump Snoopys to get them IMO and by the laws of supply and demand, values will fall. As and when interest rates rise, all this liquidity will move back into other asset classes and collectable watches and classic cars may well wobble, in some cases catastrophically.
The fact that it is languishing there at that price gives hope to those who wish to eventually pick one up for closer to MSRP. I admit to liking that watch, but at the current price point there are other watches that would easily be more justifiable (both vintage and new).
I respectfully disagree ... C&C stopped trying to add value years ago - they are basically a massive fee based aggregator of unsold inventory now ... look closely and you can find many of their pieces listed on other sales sites (Govberg being just one example).
I don't know about plenty.. All I ever see is about two or three listings at a time. But I could be wrong!
