I read that all 105.003s should have a black rehaut and that only 105.002s have the silver rehaut.

My 105.003-63 with serial number 205227XX has a silver rehaut. Where can I find the correct black rehaut? Is it a separate part or does it come together with the crystal?

    Thanks in advance. Obligatory photo:

Yup. I’ve seen this on 2 early 105.003-63 examples

    I honestly would not bother.

Its fully conceivable that in the transition from 105.002-62 (baton) to 105.003-63 some 003's had silver rehaut from the factory.

I would keep it it as is

Edit : ....and dibs (as is) :D

Question, @boogedyboo, are your pushers diameters 4mm (105.002-62) or 4.5mm (105.003-63). Perhaps you have the earlier mid case.

Thanks for the advice, you saved me some time and money searching for that black rehaut then.

You mean the midcases for the 105.002 and 105.003 are different? I would need to go and check with some calipers at home.

All correct. Can you show us the complete dial? I bet your dial is a "swiss only" one, correct?

I think it's a bit of a jump to say 'all correct', since the majority of -63s have black rehauts, but as noted above, a couple have been seen looking like this on here so as Eugene suggests it could be a remnant from the earlier model and left the factory this way. Either way, I wouldn't change it, it looks great.

I would be interested to see the lugs in profile, since it has been discussed lately that it could be that the -63s had more curved rather than faceted lugs ie more like the -64 than -65.

I got the information that the early -63 references, close to the 002, also had silver rehauts. That's why I was asking for the dial which should be "swiss only" in that case.

@gemini4 Pusher diameter seems to be 4.5mm, or at least close to it:

Dial is a T SWISS MADE T which I think is correct from 105.003 onwards.

The case has been unfortunately been polished so the lug facets are not that visible. I will take photos when the lighting is better.

Edit: Oh wait, are you asking to see the shape of the lugs from the side? Not the facets themselves right?

It has been suggested on here recently that -63s never really had strongly defined facets (in fact the poster suggested no Ed White had facets originally, not something I agree with) so I was curious to know how yours looked, to add another data point so to speak but if its been polished then I guess it is inconclusive. It's possible or course yours still looks exactly looks how it always did.

Here are a few shots of my 105.003 that had to have been one of the earliest based on serial #2052120X and features.

I wouldn't call it tropical but I only had it on hand for about a week from buying it to sending it for a service, so I will see once I am reacquainted. It does have a ton of nice wabi sabi though. It is interesting how much variety there can be to a similar reference though.

Correct crystal with black tension ring is available on eBay:

Alternatively, it's easy enough to paint the silver ring black. I've repainted a couple of rings where the original black paint was scratched/chipped. Silver looks good though...:)

Huh, that’s really interesting... I have a couple of black rehauts with the paint chipped off/gone that I would like to repaint. The rehaut becomes yellowish brass/gold colored otherwise. What paint do you recommend?

I stripped it with acetone, then sprayed with Krylon flat black. Good idea to let it sit for a couple of days before reassembly, so as to let the volatile compounds in the paint evaporate.
