No date blue dial is my pick from the new JLC Polaris range.

There are both modern "no fauxtina" versions and vintage inspired "fauxtina" dials. Interesting to compare side by side the two options.

Rather poor quality video below from Tim Mosso at SIHH 2018, but you can see the Polaris range lined up from 27:47

I am more on the classic side, although new dial is not bad

I’m a huge fan of this line. I think they got it right with the no date Automatic and the date version with the vintage lume. The LE is spectacular as well. Price wise I would have liked to see it a bit lower than they’re offered at here... I would like to snap one up at some point but definitely not at what JLC is asking.

Fairly thick - 16mm I read. That would sit pretty high on the wrist, no?

These are exactly the kind of watches I want to see, and yet for some reason they don’t appeal to me. I think it’s the more modern font of the numerals - I much prefer the last Tribute to Polaris LE than this one. Still, it’s great to see Jaeger-LeCoultre expanding their line of classically-styled sports watches.

The automatic has a thinkness of 11mm so that is more then well balanced.

16mm is only the memovox which needs some thickness for the alarm function.
Just checked the Jaeger-LeCoultre website.

Got it - just the alarm one. Thanks!

Bingo! Many (including) me have accused the watch industry of being lazy and just doing simple reissues from back catalogs with "fauxtina".

This new Polaris is an attempt to create something modern and not just a simple reissue, and I applaud JLC for the effort...but I too prefer the Tribute to Polaris, fauxtina and all.

Probably for the same reason I also think this looks great and much better than the original design with a pure black dial and white indices...

I think the Omega Reissues are very nice too. My collecting of recent years has led me to appreciate a 35 to 38mm and thinner watch. I whish these new models weren’t so goddammmed huge.

I actually think the new Polaris chronograph looks pretty cool (photo from Hodinkee) and at +US$10K it could be a nice alternative for a sports chronograph. High-level specs: column wheel + vertical clutch, 65h power reserve, 100m WR, caase dimensions 42mm with a 11.9mm thickness...looks like a slimmed down modern calibre 9300/9900 Speedy...Omega might have the superior calibre in the 9900, but I do think this looks more elegant and versatile (dress up / down) compared to Speedy range...looking forward to seeing this live.

Do we know the US dollar amount of the basic three hander? That's the winner in my opinion. The date window kills the memovox for me.

Hodinkee info below:
Price: $6,600 (calf leather strap), $6,900 (alligator strap), $7,600 (stainless steel bracelet)

Some cool photos below from Alexander Linz/watchadvisor.com showing part of the new Polaris range and allowing for a better sizing comparison between the different watches.

Great shots. All the watches are stunning IMO, and right up my alley -- especially the no date automatic. Explorer vibes...

Not the whole range though, missing the date version (non-LE).

Thanks, missed that, edited my first post. It looks like the photo does not include the new date (vintage vibe) or the new memovox version.
