Here are the watches I have acquired over the last 30 years. You can clearly see that how my tastes have changed from small to large, quartz to automatic, and somewhat more upscale.

Beautiful collection. If you could only pick one to keep, which would it be? ;)

looks very dated compared to the one on the top right;)

... the 2254 had all it takes to become Omegas Sub ... but they HAD to drop the ball :cautious:

Are top left and center bottom identical or is one quartz or what?

I feel like I can see 4 lines of text on one and three on the other but I don't know the significance

The ORIS is my newest acquisition. I like the GMT function on this watch somewhat more than with the Omega GMTs. It just personal preference, but I prefer it over the various Omega GMTs.

I'm biased but the best all round omega is the Seamaster 2254 :)

I really agree. Omega still doesn't have a Seamaster that is the face of the brand. I guess they might try with the new 300 but I get the feeling they will change soon enough.

If they took the 2254 and:
    upgraded the movement (15K Gauss)
gave it a non- AC style (wave-less) dial,
and a ceramic lumed (PO-ish) bezel

I think it would have been a Sub-killer... Certainly technically superior with a modern look.

I disagree. The PO is obviously the face of the Seamaster family. Most references, first master chronometer, first ceramic bezel, etc.

Second and third gen POs are currently sub killers. No question.

It probably depends on our respective definitions of "sub killer." I personally don't feel that the second or third generation of planet ocean is going to have the lasting power of the submariner.

That, despite the fact that I love my titanium planet ocean 8500 and wear it daily. The third generation, in my opinion is a step in the wrong direction in terms of being iconic.

I think what @ac106 was referring to is the styling of the 2254, which I personally agree could have been more iconic had it stayed around longer.

Those sword hands and big lume hour markers, on a ceramic dial/bezel and updated master coaxial movement would be amazing.

If you compare contemporaries, i.e. 2nd/3rd gen POs vs 6 digit subs (114060, 116610, etc), I'd say that it's very favorable toward the POs. If you're talking about the overall design, I'd argue that the Diver 300M/SMP with skeleton hands is just as iconic as a Sub.

    Yes exactly. There

Really? Which one of these 67 Planet Oceans (plus the ceramics) do you think about when someone says "picture the Seamaster?"

How can the PO be the face of the Seamaster when there isn't even a flagship Planet Ocean?
