worth the most or paid the most? Does it have to be an Omega? I've been pretty lucky in that my most valuable stuff was purchased for a lot less than its worth.

WW2 Elgin combat swimmers watch, it was abandoned at the watchmakers shop, I paid him the cost of the service,,, these go for pretty stupid money on ebay

Only Omega please and most paid for it. Because the worth depends on market situation.

1955 Omega automatic in 18K gold, caliber 500 if I remember correctly, I paid about $1800 Canadian fully serviced. The face does weird things if the light hits it right. This is my "grail" watch and I love wearing it.

Its in an English market Dennison case and so doesn't have an Omega model number in the case, but it exactly matches the Tresor in the 1955 catalogue.

Paid a pretty hefty price for this 30T2RG but well worth it, I think. Pretty uncommon in pink gold and bigger size.

Most I've paid for a watch was for this

    Titane on wood.jpg

I probably paid full dealer retail, but as they are not that common, it's difficult to get a real idea of a consistent price. Most of the ones currently on eBay/Chrono24 are the earlier non-tachy models. Oddly enough, a lot of these Polaris XL/Titane models seem to come from German sources, especially on Chrono24. Maybe it's a teutonic thing, a bit like currywurst and Hasselhof (neither of which I like as much as the watch :D )

I’m curious about the etymology of Illinois “Bunn”? Did Illinois watches actually come from Illinois? Is Bunn connected to the downstate manufacturers of commercial coffee makers?

Founded in the late 1860s, the Illinois Watch Company was from Springfield Illinois. John Bunn was part of the group of businessmen who were the money behind the company and yes I've read that its the same Bunn family as the coffee machine makers. I've also heard that the Bunn brothers were also associated with a certain lawyer named Lincoln and his running for president. Illinois made several models called A.Lincoln...

and yes, Lincoln wore a Waltham!

and so here's another shot of one of my Bunns!

Thank you I fell in love with my Speedmaster the moment it touched my wrist and once I had it opened the affair continued as the movement is nothing short of a work of art!

Gorgeous watches! Interesting on the Bunn connection too - they’re still around as far as I know...and the very definition of an Old Money family!
