Hi All, My collection of watches went from 1 to 4 in the space of 2 months, with another eventually arriving from overseas. I am looking for a way to store/display the watches. Currently they are simply lying flat on my bedroom dresser but looking something a snazzier to display the watches. I have seen several using Google search but I wonder what the generally sophisticated members of this forum are using. Show us your watch stand!
I have two. The winder is a cheap piece of junk and I got what I paid for, but it was a good first step and for now it meets my needs.
I keep my collection of beaters for work in a fruit bowl. Vintage in watch cases Daily watch in a hand made watch box with Huon pine
These are used only when the watches are in an exhibit. Simple, plain (perhaps too plain), but when a bunch of us pool our collections and we have ~ 250 watches to display, these work fine. Two of us made these, and had them powder coated. I have shown the stand without a watch, as well. When the watches aren't on display, they are very securely stored in a safety deposit box in a case as shown.
A few weeks ago I found this at a local antique store. It was apparently designed for the storage of a coin collection, and is of high quality. Some of the wood pieces inside of the drawers are tongue and groove, but some were simply held in place by pressure. I don't know if this was, by design, to allow flexibility, but it has served that purpose in my case, as I was able to remove some of them safely so that I could store some watches on straps as well.
@watchcollect Very classy storage and collection you have there! I like them both! @Tony C. Great storage find! I wouldn't mind finding something like that for all my projects! Looks like a great way to store your cases.
Beautiful displays guys! Found this old Machinist box which serves its purpose so far.. Here's some older pics. (the box is fuller now.. )
This is something I wanted to see as well. I'm on the look out for some kind of display to go on top of my chest of drawers
Here's a watch stand I built decades ago when I was still dating the young lady who became my life-long partner. We were both still students and I wanted to give her a watch as a gift for her birthday. The watch came with the most basic plastic case so I made the stand to present the watch. Never had I thought then that all these years later we would still have the stand and use it.
Got the shivers and invested in about half a ton of steel. Nothing to behold really. Inside it, the regular watches are stored in flat plain organisers like these: Bracelet watches in cheapo display boxes. Room for loads more!
Everything for the wrist: I dumped everything out of my jewelry box (not that it had any jewelry) to make room for my recent "accumulation". The cheaper ones get relegated to a small cardboard box. I think I need to start visiting some antique shops in search of a nice big box!
