not really a fan
Must be because you’ve accidentally picked up some Carreras. More than happy to take some off your hands if you dislike them.

Wow, a "Villeneuve" 73663. Much as I hate these nicknames they get, awesome watch. looked hard for one but went with 11630 in the same colours, easier to find a good one at a good price. Now my 11630 is apparently the "Watson".......Still, two of the best overtakers in the F1 business.

Oh my! That's a serious gallery: I don't really know what I'm looking at but this set of images would/could be the cause of a day lost to internet browsing......

Thanks, she wasn't easy to source, but things worked out and managed to find a good example.

Villeneuve was my father's favourite driver, growing up all I heard was how great he was. So I started to read about him and watch old races, etc. Not recently but about 20 years ago. Being a fan of Heuer chronos, F1, Gilles and being in Canada, seemed fitting 😀

Saw Gilles drive a couple of times in the British GP, maybe also a non championship race at Brands?, memory getting foggy. Really exciting to watch. My all time favourite was Ronnie Peterson, still remember being at practice for the 1973 British GP, seeing him flat out through Woodcote drifting his Lotus 72, on the absolute limit of adhesion. Never seen anything like it before or since. Believe Ronnie wore a Carrera 1158 given to him by Jack Heuer.

Sounds amazing!! My first race unfortunately was about 6 years after G.V. passed, I was 7. My father has some interesting stories of attending GPs and how the rules and crowd control surrounding the paddock was very different. He met Andretti in the garage, and a few other drivers. They were allowed to walk around somewhat freely.

And you are correct, Peterson wore the 1158CH, beautiful watch!

Here's to hoping for an exciting season this year!

At practice for the British GP in 1969 my brother and I wandered around the paddock chasing autographs. The only security was single strands of metal chain very occasionally hung around just the race cars. Drivers walked openly about or sat in chairs by their cars. I watched awestruck as my father chatted casually to Jackie Stewart about how practice had gone in the Matra. That year I picked up some amazing autographs, Siffert, Stewart, Rindt. Mclaren, Hulme, Surtees etc. The past is a foreign country, sadly, and that freedom of access will never be again.

lucky you. Great times in the past when you could get close and chat to the drivers. And I’m sure they were more talented drivers then
