Hi all! I didnt find a similar thread and Certina is a brand that deserves the attention. It feels like Certina goes under the radar of many collectors despite a rich history, excellent quality and great design. I know many of you have some great examples and I hope you will share them here. For those of you that want to do som research or just read about Certinas history, this is a great site: https://www.vintagecertinas.ch/en/home-en/ Here is my collection at the moment
Thanks! Certina was actually more popular here in Scandinavia than the rest of Europe so its possible to find some great pieces for a decent price
I picked up 2 very similar DS-2's at very reasonable prices. I was lucky enough to find a Portuguese parts house that had a small hoard of crystals for these models. Note that these are pre-service pictures. The automatic came with a NOS signed Certina strap and buckle in the deal. gatorcpa
Nice! The quality (for the price paid) of the DS-2 is fantastic. I get the feeling of a more expensive watch when wearing one. Do you have a link to parts house btw? I also have a couple of DS-2s. I thougth these were pictured in the original post.
Here’s mine: The originally black dial has faded to a chocolate brown. Haven’t worn it much lately as a service is required.
And let us not neglect the fact that many Certina’s also come with some of the coolest casebacks in the business:
I know you guys think your “conventionally beautiful” Certina’s are hot stuff, but get a load of this beauty for sale on Kijiji here in Canada. Only $2000 CAD :
There you go, all set up with a fitting avatar for this thread Ive never seen a Chronolympic with that case/bezel before. What am I looking at here?
Well, you'd think it is a Frankenwatch. The case and the dial are not from the same reference, and the bezel was not available on any "normal" Certina model. But we received this watch from a gentleman who was a fromer higher Certina employee. A model with this bezel but a different dial and movement came out in small numbers for the Hungarian Air Force in the early seventies. So my assumption is that it was a prototype for the Hungarian Air Force watch. I will publish more about this topic on my site soon. In the meantime I show a few other Certinas....
