Two years ago purchased a limited edition Chronograph it was one of 50 made, they have a unique back recognising the Royal Marine Physical Training Instructors. I have left it in the box with all the documents and it still has the polythene on it. I purchased it as my son is a RM and the opportunity was there. I paid £2,700 Any thoughts on whether I should keep it, will it likely go up in value? Thanks
Pictures? Is this one of the watches that only has the painted caseback? There where a few made for different UK forces. Does the watch have any special ties to you?
This was number 50 I think, I have a different number. No real sentimental value, I have a battered seamaster I wear daily which is about 20 years old.
Got a shot of the dial too? There'd have to be demand to create value, but this is still pretty damned interesting...
Does your son care whether or not you sell it? If he doesn't want you to sell it, then I wouldn't. If he doesn't care, and you can make your money back or a bit more, then sell it.
There where a few with all metal custom caseback also. At least 3 found via google search, as well as a few others with the “painted” casebacks. I don’t think they trade with anymore value then the regular models. They all have normal dials and bezels as far as I know.
