I all. I found this for sale at about $7000. I am wondering whether you think it is worth pursuing? If so what is the detail I need to grab? I have additional photos but these three seem to be most important to start. all photos are represented to be the same watch even though was has a strap and the other a bracelet. thanks Bill AC1_5214.jpg 20140904_140902-1_resized_1.jpg 20140904_140909_resized_1.jpg

That's a lot of money for a watch that's seen a lot of moisture, that movement doesn't look great nor does the dial.

Moisture being the black stuff in the movement? A lot of the so called tropicals I have seen seem to show a 'burn out" effect. this seems to have some of that, but never having seen one in person I don't know what it would physically look like. Thanks

The movement looks terrible. I would run a mile, but then I am no Speedy fan as you know . . . ;)

I think the term would be swampy.

Wouldnt pursue it if it was on sale at 50% off - condition of dial and movement leave a lot to be desired.

Bill -- Dial really looks bad here. Don't think we're at the place just yet where in Speedy land this example would command 7Gs in any currency. I recently learned it may be different in some corners of Rolex world where loads of cash can be spent to get bad looking examples? Still, some may relish a tool watch such as this, beat up n all. But not me, not yet.

    Never say never....

This is rough. With some serious condition issues. I wouldn't pay $3K for this. The term "tropical" get misused and misunderstood. . ."tropical" is not a synonym for water damage. Which this dial (and movement are).

This is not tropical, in the sense that I value it.

It is tropical in the sense that some one in the tropics might have worn it daily and allowed it to degrade beyond the condition appreciated by experienced collectors.

it is tropical in the sense that someone who does not have the sense to ask here, gets sold a disappointing watch.

(I think I know this watch)

in addition the movement shows chrono creep on the hour subdial, the adjuster is way off, and as others pointed out, in shocking condition. While it needs a major service, it will not solve this watch's ills.

This watch would be expensive at half The asking, and even then would never be a good buy.

    (all points already made )

It is always difficult to have a good idea without having the watch in hands But this one looks more damaged than tropical. i just post one pic of mine which could have some similarity ... But not paid 7k$ :)
