I've been looking at a speedy as my first great watch. I really don't mind the Mk 40 (triple date) but I want something that doesn't need much service to start my collection. Should I hold out for something that's a better deal or should this be it? Here is the link. Hopefully someone is willing to check it out and say if I'm getting a good deal.

I am not the biggest fan of that one ... I do have a speedy triple date... it probably gets the least wrist time ... if this is going to be your "one" watch save up for a speedy moon watch ... its classic .... if price or size is not in favor of a noob watch maybe head for a speedy reduced decent examples are around 1 k$ .... if you find one you may be interested post here do some incite... there are a lot of bombs on eBay so be careful...

I sure am a fan of this. And Hodinkee actually has that exact one. But right now I can't find one for less than my cheap budget for an entry watch

And assuming the watch is authentic and works well I thought that was decent for sure.. I would love the moon watch but again that is a lot to spend and for a student I'm not necessarily ready to put $7000 american into that watch

You can get a good secondhand moonwatch much cheaper than that! Ask @Kringkily and look here

"It has not been timed or serviced lately."

Be aware that I this needs a service, it can run you several hundred dollars (more depending on the parts that might be needed).
