Considering buying this oversize 1940s Omega. Seller wanting £450 but prepared to negotiate. What are your thoughts about the watch and also what a reasonable price should be. He says the crown is not straight in certain positions but watch works fine....

What are your thoughts? From your research, what do similar watches go for?

Well as far as research goes, the case number is not showing up at the Omega site. I’m aware of what other jumbo watches are priced at but whos to say that this is comparable to those given the many variable like condition, case material and dial. Also the vaguely similar watches I have seen were for sale. Whos to say someone is willing to buy them at the price asked...

This is all true. Part of learning is doing your own research and sharing what you have learned.

Not all references are in the DB. But other examples are on the Net. Same vintage and movement and dial case type should give you comparables.

The pic is not very good, the movement looks tired. Very likely needing a service and maybe parts.

I like it. This could be a super nice vintage Omega when serviced :)

What calibre is the movement? I can't work it out from the poor internal photo.

A search on the Omega Vintage Watches database using calibre 260 only, seems to turn up the watch that the OP is looking at.

You are probably right. I have not made the research. (I have just answered this because I know they are the two calibers from the 30 series with subsec and 15 jewels.)
